33 rev counter feed

I fitted an 8v on carbs to a 33 ie and used the standard clocks / rev counter etc which worked fine.
Would the same work with a 16v rev counter, or is the 16v rev counter fed from the ecu?
Thanks

Not sure on a 16v boxer but most coil pack engines work on wasted spark so send out a different signal to a signal coil set up so rev counter will read wrong but you can get a convertor box I've got one on my van to make a petrol rev counter work off a alternator signal I got it from America for about £50 delivered think its made my Dakota digital

Feel free to come and ponder over such muses at mine Tim,
Ill be pulling the 16v sud track car apart eventually anyway, so a little investigative removing isnt a problem!

just got chance to look back over the sud 16V track day car, there should be a thin black/white lead on the neg side of the coil. this should feed a rev-counter
hope that helps in some way
