At a guess I'd say 14 or 16 gauge, certainly not as thick as 12 but 18 would be too thin.
Stainless steel of course.

Thanks Kev I still haven’t decided how I’m going to finish my sud as it’s got so many different years in it. I procured a pre 84 grill some time ago. As bumpers are no existent I thought I might See if a local fabrication shop wanted to have a go at some and I can print the inserts

I’m going to give John a call too. I still have no idea how this ends up. Possibly more road focused with the glass back in or trofeaeque but still road legal. I’m will stick without carpets and other trim for the time being. It’s a comfort to be able to see more of what could corrode.

As I’m in does anyone know of somewhere good to have carbs restored.

Eurocarb in Reading sell Dellorto and Weber carbs/parts.
Sometimes they have recon ones.

Or they might recon yours?

When I bought my car it came with a set of Webber IDFs ( not the splits ) that were clean but not working apparently. I bought a set of fabulously dirty delorttos which were fitted and do work. I have never been hugely successful with reconditioning carbs So I thought I’d get someone to rebuild the Webber’s, put those on, get the delorttos recond in due course ( my carb if choice) and then keep the Webber’s as spare or sell em.

Andrew remember if your running a 1.7 it should have 40mm carbs either (Although they do run ok on 36s) Weber IDF or Dellorto DRLA . Parts are not interchangeable so make sure you order the correct kits

I won’t be ordering any kit, I want a carb specialist to fix em for me, - last time I did that my Alfetta dripped fuel all over the engine bay - and I’ve heard that’s dangerous. 🤢

Cleaning things, unbolting things, painting things, hubs and hydraulics I am generally safe with - there are many things car related and otherwise where my incompetence is obvious. I get by on God loving a trier.

I used a firm out of the back of Practical classics and will try to find who they are as I do not know what they were cleaned in but it did them no good. He was up north if i recall and could do them promptly while the other form was very busy.

I will go for the busy firm next time. Will try and find a copy and check who it was.

Chap at the rolling road at Cheltenham may do it. Is it Dave ?

I’ve got time in my hands - the delorttos work fine it’s just a waste to have a set of Webers sitting in a box apparently broken but looking much nicer than the delorttos - they look like the chip pan I had as a student.
