1978 White S1 Sud Ti - Anglia Classic Car Auctions

Post by Bluesuit »

Very nice S1 'Sud Ti in the next Anglia Auctions Classic Car Auction Catalogue (9 April 2016). Belong to anyone here? Will be very good price for a Sud if it goes for the estimate.

I hope that it gets somewhere near it's estimate.
This is a fantastic example. I only wish mine is as nice.
I look forward to seeing the result of that.

That looks very nice .
Once my car is done only a series 1 ti would tempt me to sell it.
I nearly got a yellow import one years back from gatwick alfa.

The subject of series 1 Ti values has been discussed recently on the forum.

Thanks Keith that will be a day to remember won't it, its a shame to sell her but i just don't use it enough. It was a difficult decision but rather than have it sit in the garage hoping to achieve a higher price in the future, i decided to sell now and free up room.. My other two are a more usable option anyway, and more my style being tricked out a bit!

What a wonderful car. The new owner will be very proud I'm sure. Good luck on the sale, but I guess you don't need any luck with such a gem.

As everyone says god luck with the sale Col, it really is a little beauty, lets hope it does well I know you've put a lot of time money, expertise and love into it-and it was a pretty good car to start with.

Loving the picture of the old series 1 back in '88, even back then a series 1 ti was a pretty rare sight...

Iv had a call from the auctioneers tonight and apparently its been chosen as a feature car in the classic car weekly advert. So hopefully some extra coverage 8-)

It's a lovely car, mine was a 1300ti......I swapped the s1 seats for S2 seats cos they were velour centres.....

I paid the grand sum of £350 for it at 18 years old and it looked as good in the flesh as in the pics......however we did replace half the floor pan for its mot.

Good luck with the auction, yours looks top notch and I still like them in white.

Good luck with it Col. ;)

I drove that car a few years back when it belonged to Rich and it was a good one then although it wasn't that colour then. You've made an excellent job of it.

It looked superb when you brought it to the Ripon Old Cars event just after you'd finished it. It does look brilliant in white though. :D

Should be a good auction all round with quite a few choice lots (apart from the fine 'Sud!) think I will go along for some spectator sport :D

Hi Col,

looks like we will be making it a bit of a family day out - youngest daughter is a bit of a petrol head and wants to see all the classics, notably the Mustang's! So may bump into you - looking forward to a close look at the 'Sud and the results of your handiwork!

cheers

That was a slightly nervy trip that Colin, one i'm glad to have out the way, but also privileged to have been trusted with.

I tell you what though, i couldn't afford yours anyway, but i did spot something i would have a dabble at ! :D

A Fiat Strada Abarth Ritmo no less.

a peculiar looking car from, well, most angles, but i've always had a soft spot for the off the wall style of them, although i think the Abarth 130's were a damn good looker with the twin headlamps.

apparently it needs doors but is otherwise a good car,

according to the auctioneer!

if anyone wants to get me an early Christmas present, that will do nicely thank you

That is an early one. My mate had a 105. Even though it was only 1.6 it still went well and made proper noises. :D

I remember the 130 bhp ones were very quick in their day .
They used to leave my alfasud ti 1.5 standing when I used to come across them.:(

Yes a 130 tc abarth strada was probably just about as quick as it got in their day.

Way ahead of most competition with the venerable twin cam power plant, and hot hatch handling too, it took a few years for anyone to catch it really.

I loved that era, and the cars in it, but none of the main contenders, such as the Pug, Astra and Golf, got that sort of power for quite some time.

Awkward yet pioneering styling, they are a legend really, yet largely forgotten about :?

Went to the auction today, sadly didn't see the Sud go through as it was one of the last lots and we left after 4 hours and they were only about half way through, but the fumes were starting to get a bit much. Some nice cars there and going for good prices. Pics of some of the Italian interest below:

cheers

If I can be so bold as to ask the $64,000 question - does anyone know if the white S1 Ti was sold in the auction and if so what price did it make?

it got to £9,400 at auction. The bidder offered a higher price after the auction ended but still not enough!
