A little more investigation would suggest it is

My own 33 qv was from down that way originally, actually from a guy who did a lot of resto work for rusper, and Minis for wood and pickett.

I did wonder when the video briefly looked at the notice board.
Heard of them but not familiar. Where are they?

They are still near Rusper a place called Faygate.
The company used to belong to a person called Mike buckler who built the twin v6 engine alfa 164 that was videoed one going up the hill at brooklands.
Mike used to race and rally Alfasuds and 33's back in the 90s.
My brother started his apprenticeship with gatwick alfa as it was called back in the 90s.
I remember they used to race a series 2 sud ti that was supercharged and it was very quick.
The company is now owned by a couple of other guys one of them dave used to work for Mike and they know a lot about alfas.
Shrew was the person you got your 33 from called Larry.

That sounds right Pat.

Without checking my v5, i think Larry Powys rings a bell.

Do you know him pat?

His workshop was in some old military grounds if i remember correctly, and the 33 was possibly his mothers car. :?:

Shrew I know Larry very well as he was the bodywork guy there when my brother worked there.
Very nice guy and was very good at doing restorations.
I remember once my brother bringing a alfa sz back from mot and getting the car sideways round a roundabout only for someone to pull out on him as he was completely sideways ,my brother had to flip it the other way to miss the car but took the back bumper out on a hedge so bumper had a big crack in it.
He took car back to work so Larry could repair it and get it painted but on the bad side as Larry was drilling out the rivets he missed and drilled straight through his hand and had to stick the drill in reverse to get it out and passed out a couple of times whilst doing it.

No it was the same colour as Deggy's (no photo's i'm afraid :( )

The champagne silver, Bianca Argento i think its called.

H252 AFG, 16v QV.

Really good solid car even all those years ago, and with some very minor edge repairs, its now probably amongst the best in the uk :D

It had a knackered 2nd gear synchro even at just 41k miles!

Weird seeing that on film, I go to both those pubs in the summer.

Shrew - That is where the black/white Sud came from, you were just down the road from that when you picked the sud up from me.

Yeah i remember you telling me that Rusper had some part to play in its history, namely some of the chassis and body repairs as i recall.

I didnt mention it because they were pretty poor repairs I'm afraid :(

Perhaps that's why they started to use larry for the older stuff?
