Of course ! Up over downs at bury Hill. Remember roaring up there on big Ducati in the 90's excellent.

Starting to get somewhere now, but other projects keep getting in the way.
Any thoughts on what I should do for gaskets. Will go over it with a grnder and wire brush first but was wandering if just a greased paper gasket would do. Thoughts please as there is not a Classic water pump forum.

That flange looks very similar to those I had on a steam boiler in my previous job. Cochranes made the boiler but you should be able to source them from a commercial outlet - neoprene ones are the best.

I've used neoprene for many similar tasks, good enough for wetsuits

Cheap too

Yep. spoke to a chum last night and he said `Just bought some rubber sheet for sealing a bin.'
So got some off cuts coming. Your right it is cheap stuff. Rare it works out that well !

Neoprene gasket worked very well. Thank you.
Now working, though had a lot of talk about head injuries while holding the heavy top up a ladder while it was being bolted to the 40ft shaft we were trying our best not to lose down the hole. You can imagine there was no time for photo's.

Thanks. Will just wait for the storms to stop and then paint the rest of it, then new bolts all round once the shop opens.
Also just need to keep pumping till it clears as still a lot of sediment in the system.
Hard work as well pumping the 40ft shaft up and down.
To think of pumping water for livestock, horses and the home makes me realise what an easy life we have.
See, not quite drinkable yet !
