Actually , there is a way

Sikkens EP11 epoxy primer directly on the metal, will cure all the pores and seal them up

Then any thinner based primer on top, and finally a top layer of black acrylic paint.

I havent mentioned the word Brush on purpose. Everything needs to be sprayed on, making sure you cover all the cavities, especially on the sills side and jacking points.
You can finish that off by waxoyling all the underside, apart from the middle where you've got exhaust heat.

The most expensive product of all is the EP11 primer, but HELL DOES IT WORK !!!
This stuff gets really hard and bonds to the pores of the metal, you will find it hard to sand it off even if you wanted to.
I would suggest 1 ltr of that and 1 ltr of paint, and you will be left with some when you're done.

Hardest part is removing the underseal thats on the car right now. I found it very easy to remove with a "Fein" tool and the scraper end.
Then you can use the wire brush on the angle grinder to get the remains off, and be sure to wash it nice and clean with thinner before applying anything else, otherwise you wont be sealing the pores.

Thats all :)

yes Chris,

my point was that there is no shortcut in getting to the bare metal in the first place, then all sorts of products and paints will do a great job.

Yes I did read it !

I was just pointing out in the LAST sentence that its easy to do so with a Fein tool or equivalent !
The wire brush is way to time consuming and dangerous.

Havent you been reading what I said ? :o

Nah! that looks like car restoration by the pet shop boys! might be alright for you guys in the sunshine and speedo's?

in all seriousness, it looks a good tool that, BUT, i'd still end up reaching for the knotted wire wheel i reckon to get the rest off after thats done the easy bit.
