The sensible maximum is 1800 which is an 89mm bore on a 1.7 crank. 89mm is borderline for racing (risk of block cracking) but generally seems to be ok for road use. To get 1900 you'll need a steel crank and rods as well as the pistons (really not cheap!!). For road use you'd be better off with a set of forged pistons taking it out to 1800.

Good work, you're moving fast there! I'm in Lytham near Blackpool. Unfortunately pesky work gets in the way of my Sud project so it will be the weekend when I get a chance to tinker once more..whereabouts are you?
I'm not very good with cars, so I'm having the work done for me!

Live near gatwick airport mate :)

Just need to fit some new brake pads at the front and I think it's ready for an MOT. There's one tyre that could cause a fail as it's borderline worn but we'll see. Got the red clock working which was a bonus, just the dead radio to look at next...

She's had the front rebuild now, so just the cabs to be cleaned and then the MOT!

Just looking the the pics above, how easy/hard is it to remove the front end panels and then reattach them? I assume you welded them back in place? Thanks

Yep, went out for a good drive today in her... Things went a bit wrong after about a mile when the electric fuel pump failed, luckily, I was out with the best Alfa mechanic I know, who fixed it in about 4 minutes with only a screwdriver :)

There is a guy at Alfa Lusso in Cowfold, West Sussex that has done a few of them, he makes it look easy!

I can't do that type of stuff, so you'd be better off asking him! I'm pretty clueless and pay for all my work to be done

Thanks

I've invested in some cutting tools, so more worryingly I may need to ask how to put it back on after chopping it all off......

Been driving her for a couple of weeks now (weather permitting!) and now already itching for phase two of my project plan!

Need to acquire a drivers door, 16v carb manifold, carbs, wheels and tyres.

Have already got a donor 33 16v ready and waiting.

Just found the bits online, daemon tweaks had the springs, and some other site had the suspension.

Cost £380 for koni's and £170 for the Spax

Just need wheels now, then Mark to get the 16v engine out the 33 and ready for respray

Engine rebuild underway 1.7 16v

Despite initial fears about the state of the outside of the engine, the inside is in mint condition and the oil that came out was proper oil colour, not black, bonus!
