Wiring up Veglia Borletti gauges

Post by rsfruitbat »

Trying to side up both the oil and water gauges from a ti model into an SC.
4 wires on the back. 2 appear to be for bulb which is a white to the centre and a black white from edge of bulb holder. I also have a yellow black to terminal on back of gauge marked 12V.
Black wire to terminal marked N
12V is coming from fuse 8 looped between both gauges
N is going to sender unit. One by the oil filter for oil. One bolted to head by no 3 for water
Wired up like this getting nothing on either gauge with ignition in position 2.

Any ideas what I have done wrong????

Hi,
I am no expert on this subject but it is my understanding that the oil pressure gauge operates from the oil pressure sender unit located by the distributor.
The switch by the oil filter only sends a signal to say the oil pressure is satisfactory or not, to the oil pressure light on the dash.

The water temperature gauge operates from a separate sender unit in the coolant system, this is not the switch located by cylinder 3 on the head, it is my understanding that this switch only illuminates a light on the dash on start up for a few minutes until the engine has reached a certain temperature.

Hope this helps in some way.
