Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
Hi Dave. I’m using a pair from the S3 33 I’ll have to tweak them a bit but the shape is very similar. We fitted some to a sprint many years ago for a customer. I’ve also got a pair from a 145 so I’ll see which ones fit best .

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
Kev. Can I use stone guard over red oxide primer. ? I was going to give the underside a good coating of red oxide then re apply seam sealant to all seams

Take the red oxide to the tip.
You must have had it for years?
Etch primer gives miles better adhesion.

Hi Lou, sorry I was late to the chat.
I agree with the post Kev put up with regard to the floor pan, if possible.
You can make good all repair areas and coat the floor evenly. If you "spot repair" the original underseal it never feathers back completely so can pickle up. OK if, like me, you then black wax / underseal , but if you want to paint it all, a complete fresh canvas is the best route. Stone chip has quite a lot of solvent in it so it has time to creep under existing material and attack it.
I always etch first , then seam seal. If the etch is a light colour it also shows all the gaps in any seam joints so you can make sure you don't miss any. When the sealer is well cured (we use polyurethane )you can apply the stone chip and put on a nice even coat.
Not trying to blow my own trumpet, but if you look through my thread I did on the Giulietta spider, I covered this part.
A rotisserie is a fantastic bit of kit, but this is the only time I have had one to use.

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
One thing I will add to what Keith says, which some may miss but is a vital thing which I've learned to my cost from experience, is the giving it long enough to cure part and the amount of solvent in the stoneguard.
I too use the PU sealer as it's easy to get, smoothes out nicely and being in a cartridge gun rather than a pot it's easy to apply.
But, BUT, it needs quite a few days to harden off before applying stonechip. Or the solvents will lift up the sealer....
Then you're back to square one!

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
Thanks for all the advice Chaps. I’m still trying to decide on the final path. I like the idea of body colour on the underside but longevity and protection is a higher priority . That said if I can come up with a solution that is both durable and allows a painted finish then that would be my choice.

Looks very nice Loo. Metal backplates so should last and no problems with plastic going brittle. Have you got everything now?

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
Hi Ade. No I need a pair of the plastic frames I am in touch with Bob wright and he says he can make them if I can get a pair to him to make moulds from. I’ve left a “wanted” in the parts wanted but so far no nibbles

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
I may be able to use my original plastic “pop in lamps” mtgs to get the moulds made. It’ll just take a bit of fibreglass engineering to get them right.

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Project
Hi Dave. Yes they could but these new lamps are the earlier style. ( late S2 early S3 ) My original lamps used the plastic housings with pop in lamp units. ( I even got the clips off John). These new lamps won’t fit in to the later plastic housings as they don’t “pop in” so im looking at making some fibreglass replacement frames because I don’t want to butcher the plastic housings but I should be able to use them as a pattern for the exterior shape

Hi Keith. Yes progress in the shell has been a little slow. But m still picking up bits and pieces when I can. It bugged me that I didn’t have a spare set of keys. I know I could have got generic spares cut. Call me a stickler for detail but I wanted genuine Alfa keys. Ive got a NOS ign switch aswell.

There was a guy at Spettacolo who was cutting keys from genuine blanks but I can't remember his name, maybe one of our Dutch friends know of his details.LooLooSud33Spider wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 5:44 pmHi Keith. Still gathering Sud stuff. Amazingly These original NOS Ti front spoiler brackets sprung up on fleabag recently so I Grabbed them. I needed all 5 for the front panel. He had 8 available so I bought them all so we have a few spares if anyone needs any
