Alfasud TI 1.5 timing belts

Post by Fetta GTV »

Hi All
A friend needs to order new timing belts for his Alfasud TI 1.5
The supplier asked if they are 98 tooth or 100 tooth, I didn't know there where different ones.
Can anyone confirm the correct belt or the reason why there are 2 different options.

all but the hydraulic tappet engines (8V engines, not 16V) used 98 tooth belts. the 100 tooth belts are for when you have hydraulic tappets
if you have removeable cam covers, either with 4 bolts or 4 screws for early cars, then you have manual adjustable tappets (twin lobes need an allen key type adapter, single lobe are via a shim) and thus need the 98 tooth belt ;)
