Reproduction seat fabrics for 33 Permanent 4 and early 16v

Post by dickyb »

Some of you will be aware of Antonio Ruggi who has been producing the reproduction Alfasud TI fabric and I thought you may be interested to know that I have been working with him on some reproduction fabrics for the 33 P4 Recaros and the early 33 16v seats. He has now produced a sample of the fabric for the centre of the seats and I am looking to gauge interest to see if there is a demand to go into full production.

The photo below shows the original fabric at the bottom and the reproduction fabric at the top, as you can see its a pretty good match. The reproduction fabric has been corrected back to what we believe is the original colour to compensate for fading.

I'm sure there are many tired and damaged interiors out there so this could be your solution to making your interior like new again.

We are also looking to produce some reproduction fabric for the outer bolsters of the P4 Recaro seats which will follow in the next few weeks.

Looks smashing to me Dicky, nice one.

As a guy with two 33's with the spec option of the Alcantara Recaro's, i still think the diamond cloth pattern Recaro's are possibly the nicest, they are superb seats :D

thanks Shrew, its been a bit of work but certainly worthwhile as the fabrics are really nice on the P4 Recaros. They seem to hold up better than the alcantara Recaros but many interiors are getting very tired now and unlike the alcantara which is readily available, the P4 fabric was impossible to find until now.

We are doing an initial production run and have a few orders already, the bolster fabric will be available in a few weeks, for anyone interested the checkered fabric is now on Antonio's website:

EDIT: Unfortunately due to a manufacturing error, the fabrics turned out not to be 100% accurate, unfortunately the manufacturer failed to pay close enough attention to the finer details so there are some differences to the size of the checks, the spacings, and to the background pattern. The quality of the fabrics is very good and if you retrimmed an entire interior I doubt anyone would notice but if you hold the original fabric next to the reproduction you will see a difference. I am now trying to work with another manufacturer to make a more accurate reproduction.
