chassis numbers

Post by rsfruitbat »

How do you interpret what a chassis number tells you?
Is it just a sequential number or can you get a lot more info than that from it?
If you have a chassis number how can you find out what it originally related to (if you have none of the paperwork)?

Chassis numbers tend to point towards the model / type and sometimes build periods.

It should tell you whether you have a series 1 or 2 etc, and possibly a code that would then indicate the engine size and type.

I don't know how to decipher one, but the above data is in the chassis number somewhere.

Thanks Tim

I wonder if Alfa would supply details if you gave them the number?

http://alfasud.alfisti.net/indexe.htm A while back Marco Fazio could give a detailed account of a number, Dob colour etc but those days have gone now I'm afraid.

Hi, you can use this email address:
centrodocumentazione@museoalfaromeo.com
I used it to get info on the Giulia. Took a couple of weeks, but very helpful.
