Lauren, I am led to believe this car has been fitted with an 350cu in engine.
The interior is beautiful, and original and the leather is so soft.

Of course - it's a later Series 2 model (1970 onwards) so would have used the 350 engine, which was current at the time. I suspect the factory were too busy trying to stay afloat to be worrying about blueprinting by then.

No, thank YOU for posting pictures of this superb car. I've met the owner of the red 7-litre CanAm Grifo on several occasions, his big problem is the price of fuel

It's not fair on everyone else when Lauren has 1st go. Top of the class I'd never heard of one. This evening show was put up on FB two days ago by the local Polo Club and nearly 150 cars turned up - was awesome.

Alfa Romeo Logo

This Roman pot design caught my eye. It's a flat bottomed aryballos of quatrefoil (quadrifoglio) design.

Anyone guess the date?

Here is the story of the Alfa logo I lifted from the Internet:

Alfa Romeo, the car manufacturer and pride of Italy, traced its beginnings to France. In 1910, Milan aristocrat Cavaliere Ugo Stella collaborated with the French car company Darracq to market the line in Italy. When the partnership failed, Stella moved the company and renamed it Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (Lombard Automobile Factory, Public Company) or A.L.F.A.

Alfa Romeo's distinctive logo was created in 1910 by a draftsman named Romano Cattaneo. One day, while waiting for a tram at the Piazza Castello station in Milan, he was inspired by the red cross in the Milan Flag and the Coat of Arms of the noble House of Visconti, which featured a biscione (grass snake) with a man in its jaws, symbolizing "Visconti’s enemies that the snake [was] always ready to destroy." (Source) Two Savoia dynasty knots separated the words ALFA and MILANO.

The Romeo part came in 1916 when Neapolitan businessman Nicola Romeo bought the company and converted its factories to produce munitions and machineries for World War I. After the war, the company went back to producing cars and took on its owner's last name to become Alfa Romeo.

This is the Visconti's logo but did he nick it from the Romans?

The cross and serpent of Milan dates way before the 1900's.

It's not an Alfa logo, it's a Milan dynasty emblem.

Right you lot, you seem to need bringing back on track here a bit, found these when clearing out.... any ideas the engine bit is possibly Jeep? any ideas?

Wow, Tragonic instruments, there's a blast from the past! Aftermarket, obviously, so the panel is probably a universal fit rather than being for a specific vehicle.

The manifold looks like it is drilled for twin sidedraft carbs, so I would be very surprised if it came off a Jeep - unless it is also an aftermarket part (and for a 4 cylinder engine). Webers and Dellortos aren't the first choice for tuning American iron...

Hmm,

The manifold certainly appears to be in the Weber dcoe pattern, but as for the application, it resembles loads!

Its quite Ford shaped but a tad short, I'd say the same for Fiats too.

Having a quick Google about, one of the closest shapes i could find was for Toyota 4ag and an A110 Alpine Berlinetta!

dunno about either car although the top one as a hint of fiat dino about it?

tyre is a Michelin X by the looks of it though, albeit a newly moulded one by the 2015 date, probably one of Dougal's as i'm sure he now owns the rights to produce them from michelin

Is the racer an aero engine ?
Hard to gauge the size but it looks like it could run two plugs per cylinder, and as we can already see six, I will guess at a packard

First one is an Alfa 2000/2600 Sprint. I don't think anyone could be definite without seeing the bonnet. 2600 has intake - 2000 doesn't.

2nd car - not a clue. Aero-engined special though.

I did think Packard when I saw the shape of the radiator grille - very distinctive!

Keith, I think the V12 was a production engine. Aero engines from that era are truly enormous.

I do recognise the event, it's the Merrist Wood show outside Guildford isn't it?
