The new runaround soon

Post by Greencloverleaf pat »

Just got this y reg gt 2 litre off my brother for the bargain price of 200 for a runaround daily driver.
Always wanted a gtv but couldnt stretch budget to a 3 litre .
needs a bit of paintwork as being sat and birds using bonnet as target practice but car has alot of service history and has been tuned too.
I have to spend a lIttle bit on it but paintwork i can get cheap so all good.:).
I had a choice of a couple of 147s and a couple of 156s but saw the gtv being neglected and had to have it.
like the red leather too.

That's a lot of car for £200, take it it's a runner. Nice colour combo too, leather also looks in great condition. Bargain.

The story behind justins comment was i went to look at the alfa gtv at my brothers place and thought i would have a look at the inside and had a sit in the drivers seat like you do.
I shut the door and after a while i decided to get out and tried to open it from the inside and the handle did not work ,couldnt get out passenger doir as it was parked close to another alfa .
lucky i had my phone on me as where car is parked is in a little compound round the corner from my brothers garage.
phoned mark who eventually answered his phone and as justin was there he sent him to let me out but he wouldnt come out in the rain so had to wait a while.
did i feel like a plonker or what.

The new new runaround a 2004 gt 1.9 diesel courtesy of my brother .
I'm really impressed with the diesel gt I think the car is a good looker with quite a bit of space and drives very well too and very comfortable inside too.
In the future I'm going to get a limited edition gt blackline with the 18 inch alloys and get it chipped to just over 200bhp.
The gtv I'm still going to keep and put in storage with the sud ti until I can get it done to how I like. :)
Pics of gt.

Nice looking car Pat.
Has it been slightly lowered as well, it sits nice.
I ask as I look at them and some seem to sit quite high and some really low, yours looks just right . 16 or 8 valve ?
Nice wheels as well 8-)

Thanks Pat,
Must be the 17 inch wheels. They fill the arch nice.
I am tempted to get one myself. 8-)

You can get a runaround diesel for about 1500 with a bit of mileage or 3500 would get you a nice blackline one which is what I'm going to get next or maybe a later cloverleaf one.
Gt blackline has 18 inch wheels as well.

Later gt 16v which comes with these wheels.

My brother has had his girlfriends 147 q2 sport remapped which is the same 1.9 diesel engine in it and he said it absolutely flys now.
Loads more torque and acceleration.

They are such a pretty/handsome shape, i really like them, but, although the 16v can be very good, i do think Alfa missed a trick not installing the 2.4jtd.

That could be fantastic!

Popped down there and covered over rear screen my friend lenny who rents out the compound was renting out half of it to a man in Brighton that sold bmws and Mercedes as well ran up a big bill and hadn't paid in a while.
So lenny had a falling out with the man from Brighton who got aggressive and said you don't know who you messing with and behold a couple of days later my rear screen on gtv gets smashed.
I have spoken to owner of industrial park there and they said didn't pick anything up on cctv but going to send a bill for rear screen to him and see what happen .
I know he will deny it but funny how my brother has been there over 4 years now and nothing happened before.
I have someone on the case so we will see what happens . :).

I know in the end nothing will happen he will just deny it but what makes people think they can just smash up other people's property.
I've also been to see a container at my brothers work place for storage of cars has anyone used one before and are they any good for car storage ie I hear they sweat inside and if so can I l insulate the inside.

Bloomin eck Pat, (thats being very polite)

If they were supposed to be hard or tastey in any way, thats not what they'd do, that's just the behaviour of a toe'rag, a coward, and desreves a right good slap!

Id find him and use that container for a different purpose before car storage.

Which, incidentally, I'd probably go for low level air movement rather than sealing it up tight.

Id seal up parts of a car, known to be already dry. But a complete car has always got a small amount of humidity about it in my opinion.

At the very least, leave windows, sunroof etc fully open to allow air movement.

But first,

Kill em all!

What would you choose I need help.
I was thinking in a couple of months of getting a newer gt blackline but someone I know has got a alfa brera 2.4 diesel.
I love the look of the gt but I also think the brera looks amazing and my friend has has his remapped too.
Which one would you go for and why?.
Gt I would like.
Alfa gt.

Alfa brera 2.4 diesel.
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-57-Alfa-Ro ... nav=SEARCH.
From what I have heard about these cars gt drives very well as does mine and handles extremely well but I do like the look of the brera but I have heard it doesn't drive as well but it does look stunning.

Bare in mind I need to fit my 3 kids in the car and I do have a gtv and my sud.
I'm not too worried about speed but I'm leaning towards a nice brera.
