Air Bag Recall

Post by adsblacksud »

I received a letter from Subaru today recalling my car for a passenger side air bag replacement, with the advice not to allow passengers to sit in the front seat. I found this American blog, which may or may not relate to cars sold in the UK (other than mine) but it makes for pretty concerning reading. There is a list of affected models at the bottom. http://blog.caranddriver.com/massive-ta ... cles/#list

No these are the OE airbags made by Takata in Japan, I think it affects over 10 m cars worldwide.

I was told by local Subaru dealer last July. When I have rung back to check progress they just say "Subaru are still working on it and they will contact me as soon as they know something". So I wouldn't expect to hear anything soon.

From the more recent info on the web it seems that the serious problems have been limited to cars used in hot and humid environments so our cold humid environment might be an advantage after all.

Aren't the takata bags assembled in a mexico plant?

Not good is it, a safety device that can kill or injure thd occupants, and good grief its a huge issue now isnt it! :o

I remember the idiotic suggestion that air bags and leg bars should be fitted to motorcycles, another killer idea!

Good news on Subaru airbags, I had a replacement fitted yesterday at local dealer.

So no longer have to remind front seat passengers that in the event of an accident, DUCK before the airbag gets you!
