How many Alfa's?

I have been in Italy since Wednesday in Pisa, Lucca and now Florence. I had expected to see a ton of alfa's instead I am seeing German's, Jap's and Fiats. The cops are using 159's and I've seen the odd 156's and mito but absolutely nothing else! Where are the suds, alfetta's, 75's, 33's et al?? Do they decompose just as quickly over here? In fact, I see many more 10 year old alfas at home! I will see if I can find a local and ask.

suds aren't popoular in italy, hardly any got saved.
that was what was told to me by giancarlo who wrote a book a few years back.
he contacted me if he could use pics/stories of VJM resto as there were none to be found in italy for him to use!

Seems sad for such an iconic car. I guess the Brits will have to be the flag bearers!

I've just been looking on the DVLA website at the numbers of Suds and Sprints registered or SORNed. The numbers seem to have steadied over the past three years with about 90 Sprints registered and 110 Sorned and 100 Suds registered and 145 SORNed - approx.

Old cars aren't popular anywhere in Europe, it seems to be a sign that you have failed

I did see a Ferrari 328 in Milan once. And a Panhard in Toulouse. Oh, and a 1975 Opel Kadett fastback in a village just outside Stuttgart. That's about it I think.

Hope you didn't go to Italy just to look at classic cars Steve!

Interesting Lauren as a friend of ours in Strasbourg has two old Delages and two old baby Citroens - MGs and other british sports cars also seem popular - however, as you say, cars of the 70' 80's do not seem to be wanted.

When I was in Italy last September we saw one 75 . That was the oldest alfa. Sad times

When I was in italy in april I only saw 1 alfa 33 and a 164 .
