Sprint racer
Re: Sprint racer
Here is a link to the entry list for all races. 3 other alfas in the 70's road sports, plus some lotus and TVR so quite mixed. I was hoping the 2 lancia betas that enter would be there but clearly not.

Re: Sprint racer
cracking entry list though tim, should make for great races throughout both days.
the full grid of FF1600's should bring back memories of days gone by when they used to get the british championships there with F3 etc. will be good to see them in action.

Hi Kev, as you're probably aware, I won't be at Cadwell in my 16F because of my shoulder. Should be back at Oulton Park in mid- August.
Cheers, Ted.

Re: Sprint racer
The way it's going Kev, this year looks like a bit of a write off. My fault damaging my shoulder so I'm not complaining. Going to spend rest of this year getting ready for next with both the 16F and 32F Crossles and, having seen Simon, Malcolm, Tim and Ian having fun in their Suds really want to give the Sud an airing as well! Enjoy the weekend at Cadwell - there will be some fantastic races as some of the HSCC drivers are superb. Look out for Callum Grant in the FF2000's and possibly the FF1600 as well as Max Bartell and a few others.
Cheers, Ted

All the best for a full recovery asap Ted. Would love to see you mixing it in a race with the Green Meanie doing a bit of giant killing.
Good luck for the HSCC race Tim. There are some very capable cars in that group but its always fun seeing how different cars perform on the day. I am sure you will have a great time.
All the best,
Simon

Thanks Simon. I'm hoping not to come last! Looks like rain on Sunday so I may need some tips from Malcolm

Re: Sprint racer
Sorry to hear you put yourself out of action big time Ted. Was it a full dislocation of the shoulder or just badly strained.
I have recently learned that they can be real pigs to fully heal.
All the best mate.
Tim, good luck with your outing with the fresh engine.

No worries Kev, lots of great looking single seaters, the 500's and the F3 1000cc cars, a great day and meeting overall.

Nice one Tim. Must have been fun mixing it with the Lotus Elan's. Your average speed at Cadwell was faster than in the summer of 2014 but the P6 held you up for a long time.
Did you have a lot of fun? HSCC a good bunch?
All the best,
Simon

Re: Sprint racer
Simon - the racers we met from the HSCC were very friendly, we parked alongside the other Alfa's. The Élan and Marcos drivers were appreciative of a good race and again very friendly afterwards, we had a good chat about how it went.
The meeting overall was great, lots of classic single seaters from the sixties, plus the historic touring cars were top notch.
I'm entering Croft, Oulton (gold cup) and Silverstone with the 70's road sports, assuming no mechanical issues along the way.
I'm consistent at least in lap times, consistent at braking too early, and consistent at lack of guts to take the first corner flat out - the car will do it, it's the driver that's the issue
The
My first race was the better one, I did the exact same time fastest lap as last year, and could have possibly gone quicker as the Élan held me up from the mountain all the way to Barn - however it was so quick out of the corners that it pulled 50 meters or so on the straight and I never got close enough to try and pass until the bottom of the mountain when I caught him on the brakes. I tried going around the outside on the left hander to then have the inside for the right up the mountain, but never quite made it and had to back off.
Second race race the Marcos got between us, he changed tyres from the first race and made up 5 seconds per lap , it was quick.
The grid was made up of a bunch of very rapid Cars at the front, followed by the the 'rest', I was quickest of the rest, and tried hard to stay on the back of the faster cars.
Overall a great weekend and really enjoyed it.

Hi Tim, looks like you had a good weekend at Cadwell, does this mean you're not coming out to play with all the other Suds at Brands?
Cheers Ian

Re: Sprint racer
The plan as of Saturday was to come to Brands, but looks like the dog ate my homework again, as I now have another excuse in the way. Took my car for rear tyres on Sunday which highlighted a broken rear spring and suspension arm damage - I remember hitting a pot hole with the trailer on and boot full coming back from Cadwell.
2 weeks to get parts and its booked in Friday 24th to have them fitted....
So, this week will be looking at plan B on parts and / or a borrowed tow car. I think I have until Friday before entry closes.
The pre 83 is still my preference, but the hscc have dates and circuits in the grim north hence why I've given it a go , otherwise I'd never have got out to race.

Re: Sprint racer
Two updates for everyone - especially as some of you like planes!
1. I'm at Brands with the other suds this weekend.........fingers crossed all goes well as :
2. I've also entered the HSCC (70's Roadsports) Croft Nostalgia Weekend on the 8th/9th of August - as well as military displays, music and other stuff, the Vulcan bomber will making a fly past during the wekend. Just do a search on Croft Nostalgia Weekend 2015 for info.
So, here's hoping for a trouble free race at Brands Hatch as I'm really looking forward to Croft.

Re: Sprint racer
Croft confirmed, I qualify very early on Sat 8th morning, and race 1 is sat just after lunch.
Sunday's race is after lunch approx 1:30pm.
Quite a big entry so should be a good race meeting, plus the Vulcan at some point.
Had some new bearing shells fitted just for peace of mind, so other than a wash and polish we are ready to go.
If any northerners can make it then feel free to come and say hello.
Early notice for those across the Pennines, I'm racing at Oulton Park gold cup on the Sunday of the August bank holiday. Just a single race that day, but some other top notch classics are on (jags etc).
