Alfasud on Wheeler Dealers soon

Post by Alfamet »

It's been revealed that TV's Mike Brewer was out and about earlier in the week to pick up the latest car to restore and turn around with Edd China on Wheeler Dealers.

A Series III Alfasud Ti. :D

Can't wait to see the programme broadcast! 8-)

Rumour has it that the car selected for restoration on the Show was not the best on offer (out of three). Seems like Edd might be on a weld-athon then?

I'm looking forward to this already. They restored a Spider on WD and it's the only time I've seen Mike Brewer look as though his enthusiasm had taken a knock. Hope they don't need any headlights in a hurry!

Sorry to moan but I hate those programs.
I remember the spider they did and it wasn't that clever. I feel they are misguiding people who hear them say "fully restored" and half the time they are just badly patched up.
However, I am sure they will "sell" it for around eight grand !!
'old owt yer and, weel ave a deal. :x :x

Yes agreed, this should be very interesting :)
A lot of these programs are a joke to be honest aren't they, those of us who do this type of work all know how many hours it takes on the bodywork on these cars given the construction methods and the lack of panels etc. Like its already been said all programs like these do is encourage people to take on projects only to find that they are totally out of their depth on them when they find out the reality of what they have taken on.

I agree that the final "total" cost tends to be a joke as poor Ed seems to work for free!
However having a Sud on the programme will raise its profile to a new range of possible buyers and so the price of all Suds will increase!!

Did anyone see that other classic car program on channel 5 last night? I almost turned it off after 10 minutes as it seemed to be aimed at a load of toffs in London but it improved a bit as it went on, I still don't think it will venture north of the Watford gap though into 'bandit country' and I can't see the program showing any restoration work at all, even that car sos finds little time for that, they are all poor to be honest

PLEASE remind me when this is on, as I hardly ever watch TV and always miss stuff, I actually saw in real life the Frogeye Sprite they did on the show. Good grief what a glossed up load of crap, it was the restoration equivalent of Claire Sweeneys one hour makeover on houses..... still love watching them though, just so I can sit and correct them with a running "directors commentary" over a beer :D It seriously gets on the nerves of the other half, the recent couple on the Series 1 Landrover have been horrendous.... particularly the one where it went for a ridiculous price, since shown to have been an inside trader job to inflate prices....

It's about as real as Corro, and as scripted as Towie.......not that I watch either

Fair point, but id rather stare at a knackered old sud for half an hour rather than a knackered old "celebrity" I do the former a lot anyway :D .... but not generally in the warm with a beer in my hand!

Just watched this. I loved it. They road test cars and tell you all about them.

Makes quite a refreshing change from Last of the Summer Wine on Wheels or Top Gear as it's otherwise known.

I saw that Classic Car show with Quentin Wilson and Jodie Kidd, thought it was really good. They've got a genuine enthusiasm for classic cars. The £10m Ferrari 250GT California was amazing at the end of the show..like a dream sequence..especially with Jodie!

Haha, yes a bit. I'm intrigued to see how it behaves with TRXs. The car came with a pair of spare brand new TRXs still in the wrapping! The last owner searched for a Sprint that had the metric size when he bought it new in 1985!
