How many more pic of a green Sprint can you take? Re: Tipo 33 replica @ Goodwood
They can't use the Alfa badge so they've come up with something that looks similar from a distance. Interesting folks to talk to. They had a bare metal shell there too. All hand formed ally. I said there's a lot of compound curves.....yes, we spend a lot of time discussing curves!

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Eeek!! So I went over to Prestige with my son (RR tech). The Sprint was up on the 4 post lift. Comment was made about having to drop the brake discs to get at the bottom engine stud & nut (I can get at it with a thin wall 3/8 drive socket & long extension). Sprint was lowered to the floor &a...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
The Sprint is finally ready to venture out from Prestige Paintworks for the first time since May 2022. It'll be on their trade stand ar Goodwood Revival 12th to 14th September to show that there are cars other than super expensive ones that are worth restoring. I have a "looks like new" ai...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Gentlemen, thank you for your kind words. I have completed the filthy task of refurbishing the drive shafts. One of the joints decided to liberate its ball bearings, which was "interesting" to reassemble. As you can see, I indulged my fetish for yellow zinc plating

Engine & gearbox reunited. Wiring going in. The target is to have the car ready for display at Goodwood Revival, albeit incomplete & not moving under its own power. Inner CV joint covers away for plating. Seats back from trimmers at last. IMG-20250728-WA0000.jpg IMG-20250728-WA0001.jpg WA000...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
I've got drive shaft bother.......someone changed the boots both ends (clue - plastic cable ties!). Both have failed; no problem getting the inboard one off, but the outboard is bad news. I wanted to take the CV joint off the shaft so I could thoroughly clean it out as the boot was split half way ar...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Oh dear.... I think the foam is Isocyanate based Polyurethane in which case no solvent in the solar system will touch it. Pyrolosis is the only way to get rid of it in box sections (basically, burning it away)

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
I agree with Crank that only early cars had the foam. My X reg Sprint didn't have it. As for Envirostrip, their process removes everything via Pyrolosis followed by dipping in rust remover (which maybe dissolves ally spacers. There's a product called Envirostrip Pro on the market but it's nothing to...

Re: VJM
Yes, may years ago mid/late 80s I owned VJM5Y. I put a new bonnet on it & had it resprayed. The B pillars were rotten at the front bottom corners of the rear windows because they had cracked & got moisture in. Always threw a tantrum when I travelled to see my fiancee. On the one occasion I l...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Thanks John, I'm trying my best to make the Sprint worthy of the money spent on it. I'm waiting on two clips from another supplier in Germany. On ebay as Del Priore, ridiculous prices, glad I only ordered two. The other supplier was Jens Putzier, but you have to email for a quote as UK not listed as...

Re: Coolant tank beige hose
Hi Dave, fuel hoses are Ethanol resistant. I'll be running the Sprint on Tesco Momentum 99. It has a very low Ethanol content. My GTV6 however is still on its original 42 year old hoses so they need replacement asap.

Re: Coolant tank beige hose
The reply in mangled English says the hose AFRA have got is nero. So I have decided to use some black woven fabric hose with a red tracer to distinguish it from the fuel hoses. Way over spec, its got stainless reinforcing braid. Installed today before I took the engine to the bodyshop.

Dave, thanks. He hasnt got any. AFRA list it but I suspect they are selling 8mm generic blabk fabric covered hose. I've emailed asking what colour it is.Auto doc & its sister sites list it same as they do for everything else, but when you try to order they show nil stock same as they do for ever...

Coolant tank beige hose
Has anyone managed to source the small bore beige hoses/ hose material that go to the radiator & heater T piece? I've managed to get hold of everything else for my Sprint Resurrection but I'm stumped on this. Obviously there's plenty of choice in black. If I reuse the old hoses, I'll have to cut...

Re: SPRINT RESURRECTION
Hi John Yes, the original hose clips. I didnt want to use Jubilee clips or T bolt. Romabloc clips are hard to find (go on, tell me you've got hundreds of them). There's an Italian guy on eBay selling a limited selection at stupid prices. I tracked down a guy in Germany who has most sizes up to 30mm ...

Re: Engine rebuild problem
Chris,
As the problem is the same both sides...
1. Wrong head gaskets?
2. Torque wrench out of calibration?
3. Setting misread, 6.0 kgm instead of 60 ftlb?
4. Engine mistimed, open valves contacting pistons?
3 unlikely, 4 very unlikely but I cant think what else it could be.

Engine progressing. Timing is spot on, belts tensioned. Couldn't find my valve adjustment tool (well I last used it 41 years ago & moved house since) so I bought a mini set of keys from Halfords for a fiver and "modified" the 5mm one. In the meantime here's yet another picture turned o...

Re: Hi/Lo beam switching
Had the fusebox apart today. Memory is waking up....my X reg Sprint had the metal stalk switch & all the headlamp switching was done by relays in the f/b. A few years later I had a Y reg Sud GC, the relays were gone, the headlamp switching was directly on the stalk switch, a really dumb idea. Su...
