Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer
Lancia running again and just seems to have been tappets. Very much hoping so. So took the Sud to Brightwells and they were very nice and a very fair chap had a look around it, but was perfectly honest to say he was very unsure as to its value. Then did a local car show and teased a chum about his F...

Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer
Went to take the Lancia out, cleaned it, polished which i very rarely do, and checked all the usual bits. Set off and did a mile before the rattle from the top end was so much that I could not carry on with a clear conscience. Most annoying as have been gradually improving it and it has settled down...

Re: Another one coming back from dormancy
Been working on the Lancia over the winter as it lost all oil pressure. Checked the lousy senders and they both worked, then checked all the ususal suspects, pickup, pressure relief valve, pump, etc. Made a right mess at times, highly frustrating and at the end of it found nothing. Put a better capi...

Re: 1500ti restoration. Ex racer
Well I have the Sud still so have started to improve it a bit more. Went through it today and all was well bar the radiator was loose and the gearbox low on oil which surprised me. Then lowered the passenger seat so my partner can get in and out more easily. The tick over and acceleration is super a...

Have you tried tipping some graphite into it as i have found this has released bits in locks better than oil in a few cases.

Oh and you might be able to answer a question I have. Do you know if the oil cap on the rocker box on such as a Alfa gt junior would fit on a Lancia Beta/Monte engine as the one on my car is lousy and leaks oil all the while.
It appears to be a regular problem.

Hi. If i recall correctly and its been few years now, its a genuine Alfa one with only a bit of surface rust on the edges where its stood or been scraped as its been moved around. The chap i sold it to used it more as a pattern than to help him make sections to weld in to his car. He like you wanted...

Re: Tyres
To help with my conscience I have fitted eco tyres on the Lancia and they suit it fine. Had them on my day to day car for years and they have lasted well and save fuel costs. Plus they only cost me £50 each at the time. Oddly people consistently expect them to be more expensive. Not sure why they ha...

Blimey that is a lot of money to find. You would need some good sponsors to do well with the ongoing expenses.

Also you may find it interesting from an engineering point of view to look up Berd spokes which make some of the string spokes which people are starting to use. Hooking a bit of string around a hook on a flange, then building it in to a wheel to go down the road is a bit mind bending to me.

Re: Physics Question.
Then your just hanging from the top. Which is why you see touring bikes with 3x crossing to give a kinder life to the body on the bike, rather than a stiffer wheel to go faster. There is of course periodic stresses as load changes and torque altering things and when you look into it things get very ...

Re: Physics Question.
The spokes that you are hanging on as you progress down the road are the top spokes in relation to the rim, but the side spokes in relation to the hub. That is normal for a 3 spokes crossing wheel. So the top spokes on the hub are side spokes on the rim, and so on around the wheel. The tightest spok...

Oh wow that is an excellent race car. Great link. God answer as well. Thanks. I can understand your annoyance of not buying it at auction, as the chap who bought it just put it on e bay for more. Well the Sud is not getting much in the way of interest, I am finding it hard to gauge as often you get offers or comments but this time there is nothing. Not on ebay or car and classic. Quite odd. Don't know if to wait a bit or keep dropping the price. Looking at what else is going for the same mon...
