Re: IMPORTANT MAINTENANCE - POSSIBLE OUTAGE & INTERUPTION

Clearly you guys have been busy behind the scenes - great work! I agree with the addition of 156 Series models; in the same vein, will you be considering a space for 916 Spiders/GTVs as these are older than the 156/147/GT and very much in that same budget and needing much fettling state now? keep up...

Re: integrale, fogs or blanks

Will you be driving it at night? As many new cars use the fogs as 'Steering Lights' - though not as sophisticated as the Citroen DS steering lights, If you keep the fogs they can come in handy giving more peripheral light if you are driving down poorly lit and marked country roads just to keep the v...

Classic Alfa Forum - A rival site?

To find this forum on my tablet I usually put in classic alfa forum on Google and it appears. Not tonight, instead something else came up even when I typed in the URL. Is somebody competing for the address?

Re: Tax Break for Classics in the Budget!!

Agree shrew, in a time when tax for the oldies gets ramped up in favour of new electric golf carts, at least there is some benefit and a little more encouragement to preserve the older ones, but 40 years is a long time to wait. You don't get much out of our state these days, something is better than...

Re: new and not-so-new

Funny that Alfa Nord and Alfa Sud rivalry should persist, when today's products are Fiats at best, and Chevy at worst. All genuine Alfas, especially technological ground breaking ones like the Sud, which did so much to define the shape of the modern car and the hatch back, should be celebrated as pa...

Re: What car is it?

Even the standard 3.0v6, was a quick and good handling car for its size, and what a glorious engine, had one for 5 years, one of the best cars I owned, perfect for running the family around too. First owner of mine, below, was Polly Peck International, a company made notorious by Azil Nadir who did ...

Re: Tax Break for Classics in the Budget!!

Flippin joke though, What was wrong with the old rolling system? Oh yeah, that was it, greed! the 25 years old system was great, at 40 years it'll be a while till my GTV gets there. I have owned a bunch of Series 2 Land-Rovers that were tax exempt, that and £75 insurance, made them nice and cheap t...

Re: new and not-so-new

Know what you mean Kev, the Suds always got the duff parking at National Alfa Day, I recall entering my S3 in the concours, we were put next to the dirt track, so after careful cleaning and polishing I got to have it continually covered in dust from passing cars, only compensation was a highly comme...

Tax Break for Classics in the Budget!!

I just read that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has reinstated the rolling tax exemption for classic cars in today's budget. It will apply to cars over 40 years old, meaning any car made before 1974, will be tax exempt and this will roll forward each year. So happy Sud owners, provided the next Go...

Re: new and not-so-new

Kev, Thanks for explaining your rationale, I see where you are coming from; I too look forward to the day that folk begin to recognise the 916 GTV as a worthy classic. I guess it is about at the same place as the Sud was when I parted company with mine in 1999 after 20 years of Boxer ownership. They...

Re: new and not-so-new

Amused your comment Taffioch, that the best bits of Tornado were Italian, that didn't extend to the wing panels they made, there were corrosion issues arising from surface protection problems at manufacture - so at least they are consistent with their cars! I always loved the looks and styling and h...
