Hi, Yesterday I become the owner of my first 75 - 30 years ago I thought I'd never have the money to afford one

Anyway here's some pics

There are some "bad bits"

But the interior is OK - not leather but even though the pics look more brown they do match the grey quite nicely

As for the wheels - we all know a man that can

I'm hoping to start some work on her IF she doesn't fail the MOT at the end of Oct.

She's got a bit of a flat spot between 2000 - 3000 rpm (or is that normal ??)

The fuel pump sounds quite loud (normal ?)

She stinks of over fueling when driven hard (always)

The bumpers at least need rubbing down and respraying

Shrew needs to look at the wheels

Then Maybe I'll look for some leather and maybe some engine mods


Oh and most importantly fix the oil pressure gauge

This is similar to the one I used to have, it looks a nice example mate, great engine, the best V6 around, they sound great, mine had been uprated to about 220bhp as I seem to remember, I remember you could change down from 4th to 3rd, floor it and the back end would step out . These are good drivers cars but let down with a few problems that I remember: poor interior build quality and poor brakes (although mine was an earlier car on an 'E' plate and both these were improved on later models), I also remember a poor gear change (which is be expected given the layout), poor radio position and the ridiculous handbrake, it all makes an alfa an alfa.....!! All is forgiven though once driven given THAT engine and the handling. Nice one Harvey, nice car mate. I got banned for speeding in mine Enjoy!

Yes, dash layout rather strange

Lucky my brother was following me and kept flashing his lights and indicators.

I kept looking at the dash and thought "what's he on about". another couple of miles I found the indicator warning light flashing where the clock should be

It's not bad for gear changes and has had a new clutch recently, the clutch it self is very like the sud - it takes up quite close to the top BUT you only have to press it half way to change (or at least I hope that's right )

MPG is rather low (140 miles on 1/2 a tank) compared to the 2.4jtdm - Hey who cares with an exhaust note like that

Wife and Daughter "hates it" Son thinks it's AWSOME - and there's a "hole" in the roof COOL

My first "outing" will be at my local AROC meet in the cotswolds, so I hope there glad to see it too as I don't think any of them have got one.

Never had any of the niggles you mention on mine, it got tired at about 120k miles, but I caned it every day so to be expected.

Avon racing did a quick shift for the gear change, and I'd consider a 2 litre twin spark box if you do tweak it.

I think the 220bhp was achievable with just camshaft upgrades, but then you could invest in a AHM 3.5 conversion....

You can't really compare a 1990's car to a modern one surely

1980's car.......came out in 1986, the early ones were either 2.5 V6, or 1800 twin cam on 40 Dellorto's.

Yes you can upgrade the power on those V6 engines quite easily, just a hot camshaft will give you much more BHP
I got caught doing 122MPH in a 60MPH limit when I was living in Suffolk I saw a motorbike trying to race me, he had no chance, I wasn't even in 5th! but as I slowed down for a village, he caught up with me, a policeman on a bmw, he said he had called in for assistance to Suffolk traffic police and the next thing I knew was that about 4 traffic cars arrived! not my best day!! I was years ago now about 1997-98 but I can still remember going to court and getting a 3 week ban (mitigated down due to needing the car for work) but the fine was massive, big even now, I seem to remember it was around £350.

Just a quick update

Went for a "blast" around the cotswolds - 14 alfas in convey

Unfortunately one of the group got pulled by the FUZZ for dangerous overtaking AS IF

Every time I look at her I can't believe that's she's mine - just hope the MOT due in September doesn't ruin it.

Hopefully she'll pass OK and I can spend a few quid on other things

Well the big day arrived

MOT
Always one of those moments you hope you haven't bought a lemon

£38 pound later MOT
3 "advisories
1 Rear brake light lenses "faded" but still "see able*
2 Slight "movement" in steering rack
3 Near side headlight glass loose

1 Can fit RED LED bulbs
2 Never noticed it
3 Will get some "no more nails" and re attach

On the whole a fine result


BUT

When I drop the clutch in first I get a rather strange hum / vibration from the gear stick region ???????
Is it the propshaft ?
The Exhaust ?
Or because it only happends in First the gear lever ??

I Am now going to tax her for another 6 months (I thought with the "new" system you could tax at 1 month intervals - but not so ) at least I can use her until they spread the dreaded slat

Nearly "lost it" round a corner a few days ago - jesus haven't driven a RWD since a Viva in 85
Mind you that had about 10 BHP

Need to sort this "vibration" out ASAP though - I'm trying to get the missus to take on the 156 so I can keep the Sud and the 75 but she doesn't seem keen and I'd still need a "winter" car.

First "big bill"
Funny noise when "taking off" turned out to be the front gearbox mountings

£168 inc the VAT

No more clunks and what I thought was the exhaust "clang" has also gone

AND the gear change has gone from "not bad compared to most" to SPOT ON

Will wait till the first salt wagon then book her in for some paint "touch up" then into the garage that the sud SHOULD be in


Happy days, just hope the wife lets me have some fun in her (the car ) next year

My "indie" Garaged told me my rear crank seal was leaking

Ok Replace it

He phoned me up today to ask me if I needed the cambelt done whilst he had the engine out

Do you really have to take do that !!!??

Sud still waiting for another "specialist" to carbon dip my arches etc as the vinyil wrap had already started to peel
