Wheels and spacers conundrum

Car has a tendency to squirm and tramline a bit, not bad but enough to keep your wits about you. Tracking set to parallel.

Standard wheels weree 5.5J 14" with 39mm offset and 185/60-14 tyres.

I have fitted 6J 15" with 50mm offset but 15mm spacer - therefore net 35mm offset. Tyres are 195/50-15.

I think the spacer may be too wide - just about 3/4mm per side. With the 12mm wider rim I think I have put most of the extra width to the outside instead of splitting the difference and allowing more to the inside. Would this make a big difference or am I shouting at the clouds here.

By my back of a fag packet calculations, if I take 4mm off the front then I should be close to factory spec. Its not a radical change and I daresay I am not the only person to do this, so what did others do?

I may, of course, be over thinking this..................

I think the tracking should be +1 not parallel.

Don’t forget U.K. roads are crap, ruts and all sorts of imperfections. Wider tyres tend to tramline a bit more on poor surfaces.

Doubt it’s the spacers, more the slightly wider tyres and poor roads.

I’m running close to 40 offset on the racer, but granted I drive on smooth and high quality tarmac

Lou will have the answer so standby, mine is just opinion :D
