Evening all. Last year We bought some Car covers off fleabag We Did some research and read several reviews in which everyone said they were crap, so we did the right thing and bought them anyway. Guess what they’ve disintergrated. So now I’m looking to the CAF hive mind for some proper advice on car covers.

Lou .

Caravan covers seem to be the best Lou, those multi layered type. Had one for years over the frame without any wear or tears, out in sun and snow without letting anything significant through.
I only use those flimsy canvas type ones for indoor dust protection, LIDL or one of those places had some for £10 a while back, one adorns the integrale as we speak now it's in winter hibernation.

I've got a Halfords car cover.
Supposed to be waterproof and breathable...........it is actually neither!

I’ve used a Hamilton Moltex car cover on my x1/9 before I sold it. Good and bad points: don’t pull at the seams they can come apart despite the stitching and material glue they use. They do breath but if the weather is dry take the opportunity to remove it and air the car. If it rains hard the car will get wet but it quickly drys out. They have a fleece lining so won’t scratch the paint. They are not cheap but work well and are 5 layers thick.

Make sure the car is on a hard standing, not gravel or grass/earth as moisture rises. For winter storage buy two large tins of WD40 can spray it every where, wheel arches, engine bay, door jams etc.

Lou,
Did you come to any conclusions on Car Covers.

My Halfords one just acts like a sponge!

I use one of the all weather ones from classic additions.

They’re expensive but I’ve had one on a car for a couple of years and it’s still surviving despite the cat regularly climbing on it which has shredded many other covers over the years. They’re a stretchy material and have three straps so don’t flap about like some of the cheaper more rigid fabric ones. Almost completely waterproof, although you can still get condensation under so it’s a good idea to peel them back every now and then if the weather allows.

I’ve had too many cheap rubbish covers over the years but am now happy to pay the extra for something decent.

Gulp!
They cost more than the car is worth!
