Hi all
Just rebui!ding some hubs for my outboard conversion. Bit I'm struggling with is the manual on Alfa-restoration says the locking ring holding the bearing in is supposed to be done up to 25 Nm so why do I need a 4 foot extension bar to stand a chance of undoing it even after I've ground off the locking tabs????
Does the locking ring have to be done up a lot higher than 25Nm?
Did they use locking compound?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Ade. I can’t remember but Could it be LH thread I do remember having to heat them up with a torch in the past to undo them. It’s quite a fine thread I’ve even had to chisel them out before now . What does the Tech Spec book I lent you say .

Ring nut securing bearing on hub support?

225Nm - 264 Nm

Perhaps manual is a factor of 10 out?

I just knocked the locking ring inwards carefully with a hammer and chisel.
Threads were ok for the new one

Thanks NEG but that's for Sud hubs
Outboard brakes are different and there are differences between S2 & S3 33's
Have also discovered that there are locking rings requiring different size tools to remove. Alfa tool is 68mms across the flats but the ones I got needed a tool that was 65mms across the flats.
