Well the start of my engine codes 30168 i think that's an early 1351cc , and i 've read that's the 63hp engine oooer bit lower than 105hp, but I guess that's without twin carbs?

It sound to me like you actually got a late 1350 sprint. These were basically identical to the 1500 GCL but with Different internal Trim , 13” wheels and 1350 veloce (Twin carb)engines.

Been in touch with last owner says he might have the original engine in one of his barns , but it'd be to much of a pain go Scotland for it ,and must be kaput anyhow.

Ahh ok so he’s confirmed the engine had been swapped ! Did he say why he swapped it over .
The engine would be worth getting.
Where abouts in Scotland Is he ? I’d be interested as I go up from time to time

Page 135 of my red Haynes says a 301.68 has 86bhp.
Doesn't sound a lot, but if it runs ok, just drive it hard, and enjoy it.

I’m only 40 miles from Kelso if you need any help retrieving it - mind you it’s a nice run up and Duns is only 15 miles away - and it’s nice to drop by Jim Clark’s memorial and Museum.

Just over the border near Melrose and jedburgh Splant - the roads are epic although they are policed ruthlessly - the breakfasts are also epic and are eaten ruthlessly.
