Plugs and leads

So, what plugs are people using?
The golden lodge were always specified, but look expensive if you can find them. Or do people use NGK?

Also, the leads. Are they availble with the proper spark plug covers? If so where?

Regards,

Chris.

NGK B7ES with 0.7mm gap Chris. That’s what I use for my 8v 1.7 Sprint.

Yes, I (like loads of others) have used NGK's with good results.

As for the leads I'm sure Tony or Dave got some nice ones recently with the plug covers...

Same here.
Over 9,000 miles and no problems. :)

A bit of a thread resurrection here folks

I have now installed Denso W20EPBR-S plugs which I gather are all but the same as the Golden Lodge 25HL..
I did have Bosch WR78X but I now know the gap on these is wrong at 1.1mm (hence the X designation). Both of these options are equivalent to NGK BP6ES. So I am led to believe, but happy to be enlightened..........

Now a wee plug question - the Bosch plug for the boxer was supposed to be W78 but Bosch have seemingly stopped doing the non-resistor equipped plugs hence the WR code now. I read somewhere that the resistor version is not recommended for older cars that don't use coil packs. Is this fact or fiction? If fact, what are the side effects? Also if going NGK in future (likely) then should I use B6ES or BP6ES - the BP I gather has a protruding tip, which I read somewhere was better for the hydraulic valve versions.

Thanks again folks

Maybe ask Ian at Sudshop?
He has over 40 years experience of Alfasud engines.
Seems he sells NGK plugs, and good quality leads.
