Hi folks,
Long story short....
Bought my first racecar last year, and with no knowlegde on the subject, it was a steep hill to climb to transform this roadcar into a racer. But with good help from several forums I was able to debut last summer in my first race ever.
Now after one seson, 2 engine crashes, a 360 roll in the sand trap and 4 trophies, I'm still a happy man looking forward to seson start May 11th this year
Racetrack upside down, fast forward to the end:

Enjoy

Hey Brovold, great to see you join up mate.
sounds like an eventful first season, but hey, some silverware already in the cabinet, well done mate, brilliant.
Now you've come home as it were, it would be great to go through a better 2nd season with you hopefully, so fingers crossed, and all the best.
Feel free to bring us up to speed briefly (again!) so the new members who may have missed the build up to your first season, as it was good stuff that mate.

I followed this cars build on another forum. Its amazing what a stock 16v engine can do when the shell is light and you have a good suspension

What plans have you got for this year, as I'm sure there's plenty on here that will be happy to help you get your first win

This winter the engine gets a total overhaul, the dampers has been serviced by Intrax (one punktured after the flipp), new front side panels and hood, get hold of a 1.2 gearbox, and that's it so far. A general overview of the car is also needed, just to be sure....
On my "should-do-but-don't-have-time-list", there is several things:
- loose more weight
- swirl tank (have original petrol tank, and get fuel cut when cornering with just half tank)
- oilcooler, to get more oil in the system and prevent killing the engine (again)
- new electrical wiring (original wiring, and a lot of loose ends)
- new senter console (have the original one to play with)
- win a race.....

Swirl pot-tank is a must , not having it is costing you time!
Lose weight .you or the car lol
1.2 gearbox would be nice !
Is your sump baffled ? Oil cooler would help too
I can't remember if you've got polycarinate windows or not?
With your engine are you porting the heads? Even just a basic clean up would help ! Exhaust you need to talk to shrew
Hope that helps a bit ? I'm sure the race boys will chime in and help you

Swirl tank is currently laying on the bench...I need to have full tank to ensure nice flow, but it cost weight, I know, but enough time in the garage is an issue.
I need to loose weight, but the car also - and hopefully more weight then me
Original oil sump....so far...
Only front window is glas, rest is poly
Heads will be ported
Battery is placed in the back, DS3000 break pads ordered and some new decals ready for this season

the swirl pot will help double, stop you getting fuel suge when you don't need it and save you lugging an extra 20kgs in fuel

an hour later......i really need to spend a few nights sorting out all my pics, some are on memory cards, some on cd's, none are really named
anyway.
this is what i did with my sump for the 16V track sud, which seemed to work ok.
a catch/baffle plate was made up and welded into place with the aim of keeping oil next to the oil pump collection foot.
a little ramp was made for the o/s oil return pipe from the head so it would drop straight into the area.
the idea was to try and stop all the oil flowing up the sides of the sump when cornering, it could still flow under the baffle plate as i left a couple mm's at the bottom, but it keeps the main bulk in a smaller area.
i never had any issues at all with flickering oil lights or anything daft, can't say for sure if it prevented it from ever happening but it couldn't hurt!

deadline is May 11.th with first race in Sweden, so not much time left
Picking up a 1.2 gearbox this weekend, so hopefully I get everyting in place by next week. All my experience tells me that it will take more time then planned to get it up and running, so need the extra time.
I also have a plan for the hood, and it will look something like this....
Not sure if the stripe should be straigth like the picture, or follow the "V" on the hood. Will try to mask the white (bougt decal) and paint with black over and remove the decal. Never done this before, so this is a pure test

Recon green white red graphic would look awsome on a black bonnet
From what I remember before good luck with the engine

Now that I got the decal on, I'm not sure....maybe just leave it like this??? Just a hint of Don C for the guys in front of me...?? Think, think, think.....
I agree Kermit, a black bonnet with the flag would be nica also, but now it's white...

If your keeping it white then go for the black and white , but if it was black the go for the flag
