What was the wheel and tyre as standard or as optional extra's on the different series of 33's?

Think S1's were 14" but what were S2's and S3's?

From memory
All base spec 33s had 13" steels inc base spec S3 1.5 IE's
All Cloverleafs had either 14" or metric pepperpots.
All S3 16v had 14" alloys can't remember any model with 14" steel
I'll bow down to others if I'm wrong

Thanks

theres a rule in rallying that says you can not go more than 2" bigger than what was fitted as standard on rim diameter for some reason.

I thought you were right first time Lou, i don't recall any S3 with less than a 14" alloy.

I've certainly never bought one that had steels, and a few have come through me!

Me old Mk2 Amica came with 13" Revolution alloys, later variants came with the same wheel but in 14". I sold them 10 yrs ago to a guy who wanted them for a Fiat 128 Spider but kind of wished now I hadn't , they would of come in handy for moving the car about.

I can't find any 15's listed anywhere as OE mate, 185/60R14 was about as big as they came with I think.

Hi RS, I have tried 16" all round and it certainly made the car feel less responsive in steering especially on turn in, I was using a 45 profile tyre which slightly rubbed on the front plastic inner arch covers, I then tried a 40 profile and found them to be better.

At the mo I'm now using a 15 inch split rim on the front with a 50 profile and a 16" on the rear withe a 35 profile to fill the body kit arches and keeping the rolling radius within 4mm of each other. Funny thing is I can't remember why the front / rear radius is important but did it anyway. :geek:
