Hullo.
Any tried using a 33 Chassis rail on a Sud - are they the same / close enough for with a bit of extra work. Understanding the differences would be useful before i start. thanks for your help

Re: Chassis rail differences 33 and Sud
In my opinion, theres a few answers, depending on how bad your existing one.
Its not an overly complex area, is your area of concern damaged or rusty, but regardless is it not curable as a small local repair?
They are not a world apart in appearance, but may still need some tickling to suit your car, it might be the similar job to fabricate a new surface as you require.
Do you have more details or pictures of the issue?

It's likely they are the same which is why 33 front arms and crossmember fit the sud and vice versa. The inner wing panel is probably the different piece grafted on.
I have a nos sud rail (not for sale) and could take a pic next weekend if it helps compare against a 33 one ?

Heres a pretty pic of the area. Shen i see this I start lookinga the options! I really need to clean it up properly, but you know if looks this bad its going to get worse! its hard to see but there is big brazed on patch in the middle of the pic. that wont come off clean so im assuming the whole wheel-side of the chassis leg will have to come off. In my experience its often quicker

Re: Chassis rail differences 33 and Sud
my S1 33 runs with all Sud running gear, front and back.
Since going 16V it has a 16V crossmember but rest of front suspension is Sud.
Like you suggest i think it will be the inner flitch where the differeces are.
