Hi Liam,
Very close. It's a Fiat 131 Abarth Volumetrico. Same supercharger as the Lancia 037 Rally.

Cmon Simon. We need more photos......

I suspect we all like the 131, especially Abarth version.

My very first car was a 131 mirafiori........a short lived relationship which led me into Sud's.

I hope it's to your taste and you bring it home with you, good luck.... :D

Good luck, that is a rare beast. 8-)

Looks great Simon, and it looks like you have found an Aladin's cave of gems.
Any idea how many were built ?
Thanks for sharing, look forward to seeing it in the metal. 8-)

Hi Keith,
There were 25 two door cars based on the 131 racing and 200 four door cars.
I am not sure how many cars in the museum near Antwerp. 200-300?
I like this one:

Hi Kev,
There was a 131 Rally car there with a volumex blower on it and the standard carb setup producing 200bhp:
image.jpg
The volumex blower is smaller. Here is the Volumetrico:
image.jpg
The pulley sizes suggest the Volumex spins faster?
Volumex pulley:

Volumetrico pulley:

The Volumetrico used on the first Lancia 037 group B rally car was a standard carb setup and the 2litre twin cam produced 240bhp.
That's what I want!

037 is probably my favourite rally Lancia of all time, even more so than 038 (delta S4) really.
such a poetic thing to watch dance around on the stages 8-)

Excellent Simon! :D

I'm a big 131 fan, always have been, and can't wait to see and learn more of the plans.

I am 100% sure that i'm not alone, so please make sure to keep a good thread going here on CAF, where i'm sure you'll find as much love and attention for it as you would on a Fiat forum! :P

I couldn't agree more!

Inline Lampredi twin cam, supercharger and ZF transaxle, superb!

...Which reminds me, I need to upload my pictures from Auto Italia - full race Lancia 037, oooooh yes :D

Me too. And the doors are the same as a Jensen Interceptor, so no problem getting spares!

Always preferred the 206 Dino coupe - must be the hexagon grille :D

just been reading an article in the latest auto italia magazine about the 037, I never realised that the options when designing a rally winner was actually a consideration given to using the ritmo (strada) and giving it a mid engine layout similar to the Renault 5 turbo or a delta with front engine rear drive like the 131 but they settled on the 037 rally , which i'm glad they did really 8-)

Great video Simon.
037 looks really mean in carbon. Pity we didn't the 131 in anger but S4 wasn' t hanging about .
Cheers.

Hi Keith,

What struck me about the 037 in the video was firstly the weird engine noise but then how incredibly quick it is. The video suggested to me that it is actually so quick that it is beyond the capabilities of even the very best drivers. The 037 driver seemed to morph into an 80 year old man when he was driving it and then as soon as he stops he is back in his 40's!

The Stratos by comparison seems positively pedestrian. Lots of lovely noise but definitely not of the same generation. Worlds apart.

All the best,
Simon

I have had it on very good authority today that fitting these parts on the Volumetrico will give me an extra 30bhp. From 140bhp to 170bhp. Massive gain for limited spend.

I will need a very effective intake filter to prevent the supercharger rotors getting scuffed and ruining its efficiency.

Hi Guys,

The car arrived in the UK today.
It was running but on one or two cylinders and back firing.
We drained the fuel. Old fuel on the left, new fuel on the right.
image.jpg
It started easily and after about 3 mins running it was absolutely fine.

This is the carb/supercharger setup:

That fuel looks like the by product of 10 pints of lager the morning after.....

What are the plans Simon, spill the beans........ :D
