Hello all

Just curious about peoples experience with aftermarket wheels and the affects on handling
I know the offset on the phone dial speedline wheels is about +38mm. If you use a wheel like the Ronal A1 that is 15x7 with +25 offset how does it affect the driving characteristics? Will it cause too much torque steer under acceleration and braking?

The wheel options I'm considering are 14x6 +23 Momo replicas.
and another set that is 15x6 +26.

I'm pretty sure both will fit but just don't want to ruin the handling.

Please let me know if you have tried different sizes and offsets and how it went.

I think you'll find that because of sticking to 6j width, the change in offset will have no detrimental effect at all, assuming you're going to use 185 tyres or very close?

A substantial gain in tyre/wheel width aswell as the offset change would be more noticeable, but not always to the negative, but i understand your concerns about the effects on the Suds characteristics.

Offset might help, creating a wider track. I think mine are et24 and I use 5mm spacers.

so et24 - 5mm =et19, which compared to original offset of 38 was it? means offset difference now of 19mm, per side.

so your overall track width has gained almost 20mm per side, 38mm , plus you use slightly wider footprint in your tyre choice.


little wonder it handles better eh, but , compared to a stock car, how do you think yours has changed in areas such as low speed steering ease Tim?


mine will be a test of strength to park in a tight space i'm sure, but then they are 8j and potentially 9j wheels, tyres from 205 to potentially 225, and offsets around et15
