Steering Arm bushes

I recently had the engine out of my Sud to clean and repaint the engine bay. Whilst doing that I noticed there was quite a lot of movement in the steering arm bushes so I decided to replace them. I couldn't find new ones anywhere unless I bought a whole are. Most of the 'polybush' suppliers list them for Alfa 33/Sud but I found these were too big for the Sud. I'm guessing but I assume the 33 has a larger holes in the arms ?

Any way I measured them all up and found that these were a very close match to the size:

http://www.superflex.co.uk/proddetail.p ... 3-1980P-95 and not too expensive either

Got them and cut them in half with an appropriate sized steel tube and it all worked perfectly:
Steering Arm Bushes

Complete arm
Complete arm
The steering feels a lot lighter than it did before - it was quite heavy. Also there is no free play at all now, all feels a lot more precise.

Hope it helps

My questions is, How do you find the correct size just by searching ? :?

I mean, ok, you measure up the size that you need, but then you go searching for that size.
And all webpages have to give you is bushes according to model of car and application. I've never seen anyone give out the sizes... Do they ? :?:

What you've done is actually a great upgrade mate, maybe more important than most people would think !

Job well done 8-)

So what I've been doing is using this website:

http://www.superpro.com.au/why-superpro ... -bush-size

There you can search by inside diameter, outside diameter etc. The part numbers it gives seem to be common across other suppliers and I've just ended up using Superflex as their prices were very good and in my experience their service has been excellent.

For the tubing you can either get tubes from someone like Superflex or I've used eBay. Just search for precision tube and there are plenty of options. Just a case working out size and wall thickness. For a couple I've had to use two different tubes forced into each other with a vice, if that makes sense.

I need the same thing for my 33, do you think it would fit a 1989 QV without power steering?
