Hi all,

I just like to introduce my '78 1.3 Super. I spent a lot of time trying to buy this car as it's my favourite model in my favourite colour. It's just come back from the bodyshop where it has received new arches, rear valance, sills and some work on the bulkhead followed by a complete respray. I'm now going through all the mechanicals and hope to have it back on the road in the next month or so. There is only 69000 miles on the clock and I have most of the history from '79 onwards. After it's back on the road I'll just have a few finishing touches to add such as a better drivers door card and the c-pillar decals which I have sourced. Not many pics to hand at the moment but I'll take some more soon!

i used to have one of those in the same colour when i was about 20 it had a vinal roof that came all the way down the rear quaters.
i had never seen a vinal roof like it before on a sud and never seen one since like it.

Thanks for the welcome! I've always loved this colour but I haven't seen another like it in years (probably sometime in the 80's!). I'll get some more pics sorted out as soon as possible.

Where are you based?
Before I bought my current Sud I had that for a couple of days to try out.
Funky looking I'll give it that....

I'm in West Cork. I've had it 3 years now and it's been in the bodyshop for most of that time. The bulkhead was in a bit of a state and required quite a bit of surgery. It all fine now though! I've been going through the mechanicals from top to bottom and should have it back on the road in a few weeks. I saw your S3 at Mondello a few years ago now. Lovely car. Is it the only Gold Cloverleaf around?

Good man Ed! I brought your car to Gerry Campbell of Ti Autos to have a look.
It had a carpet of corrosion underneath, a bent gear selector fork I think it was and the spring for the choke was missing that if you used choke it wouldn't turn it off again so it would choke/smother the engine...
Thanks for your kind words re my Sud. Iyt needs tidying up bodywise and mechanically.
I think Myles O'Reilly of AXA sold on a Gold Cloverleaf to a chap in Co. Clare.
Looking forward to seeing pics of yours when it's back on the road.
PS did you buy it off Brian up by Slane?

I bought it off a guy in Waterford. I had looked at it in Slane a couple of years previously but I thought he wanted far too much money for the condition the car was in. I forgot about it for a while and by chance saw it parked up in a yard I was driving by. I went in and asked about it and the guy was willing to sell as he already had a Fiat X1/9 and a 124 Coupe taking up his time. There was a lot of rust underneath as well as the rear of the sills, rear valance and bulkhead areas. I noticed the choke problem also but the car would only drive about 500 meters at any rate due to the rotten fuel filler neck! There was huge amounts of rust going through to the fuel filter and choking the engine. Luckily I sourced a reconditioned filler neck which is now on the car along with new fuel lines which should have solved the problem.
