Ditching the old Mech Speedometer

Hi Guys,
Well I have been at it again and been really busy working on my S3 Ti race car.
As we all know the Suds are well known for dodgy mechanical speedometers that have either faded bent needles and making some erratic noises whilst not showing the correct speed. Yes there are options to get spare parts and make one work but as they are now +30 years this is getting harder and harder amongst other things.
In addition to the speedometer I know for a fact that the standard tachometer was out by a couple of 100 rpms so this would also be ditched.
The solution I chose was to use a company in the US (Speedhut) who make and design custom guages for all cars.
I have opted for the 4 inch GPS speedometer and tachometer with the dial faces to replicate the originals with a sort of 16v modern look.
They were fantastic to deal with and they both operate very well, with the most responsive tachometer I have seen for a long time.

That is a really good looking conversion. Very smart and like you say it looks in keeping with a modern twist.
Top job. 8-) 8-)
