Coming together Philip.
Looking back, just noticed the BGT in the background of the Moggie photo. That is going to look mean.

I can't believe you have got that V12 under the bonnet. Is that an MGC bonnet you have used ?
Great project.

Yes it is an MGC bonnet - the bulged front is good to get the big radiator (from the XJ-S) inside........

yesterday we had this beemer in, couldn't believe how far plastics or more accurately composites have gone into car construction.
we long ago had memo's not to drop spare wheels into many boots now as they have a plastic boot floor and the spare going back in can crack and break the floors.
but inner wings?
how do you asses the structural strength of a plastic inner wing and strut top mount in the future?
how will they react to age and stress?

Simple. They build them to only last so long.

Still playing with the BGT but I got distracted and busy with the satin black rattle cans to get a flavour of a possible finished look?

Nothing wrong with satin black Philip.
The 'B' looks great, very intimidating.

Very old skool - I like it!
I can just imagine Mad Max tooling around in some old British car - forget about the Aussie Falcon and all those Holdens, what about an MGB or an Austin A40 Ute???

Wow......like the ram pipes. I think I'd go opposite to mad max look and go for a bright in your face orange , yellow or green......Kawasaki green.
What wheels will you go for ? Small, wide with fat tyres ?

The rear wheels are standard XJ-S and I will check the tyre spec after my holiday Shrew. The fronts are Midget Ro -Style steel wheels with probably 145 x 13" tyres

modern cars, don't you just hate them
the 147 has had no horn for a few months now, been meaning to have a look at it for a while but never had time.
took a look tonight, mainly as the MoT is coming up..
horns, wiring, relay etc all checked out. had a hunch it'd be the steering wheel mounted switches anyway
surely they'd be a series of simple trigger switches, doesn't need to be anything more than that does it??
ok, the radio controls are also fed through the printed circuits but why does the horn need to be fed through it too? the red and black wires are for the horn which link to 3 trigger points of very robust design that would continue to work for years but then fed through a delicate circuit board!! WHY
bit of cleaning and massaging and it works again....for how long I don't know.

The way things are going you're lucky there isn't a separate ECU just for the horn!
Not impressed by the amount of superfluous electronics in modern cars, all done in the interests of cost expediency, of course
Well done for getting the thing working again, hopefully it will keep working long enough for you to get a ticket!

Hi Shrew
The tyre size is 215 x 15 x 70
and the refurbed wheels look like this

I don't think i have any 70 profile Phil.
I have some 205 55 15 which i thought might be something like what you'd run, but i'll have a good hunt round for you.

Yesterday I ordered a pair of wheels for the front of the BGT - Not sure what make they are Shrew (K&N???)
I have been looking at the front wheels and I have finally found, what I hope, will be a good match for the back Jaguar alloys......

They will need the centres black powder coating and rims recut, but they are 5 spoke 13" dia 5.5" wide to suit midget 4"PCD and at a good price so many thanks Minispares

KN did do a lot of jag fit wheels bag in the day, but mostly they were the mesh type, or baskets as some folk call them from the XJ era, KN Diamond being probably the nicest style they used.
Those two on the rack look like Compomotive FH500 to me or a very very close design, of which they were a few, but the rim edge is spot on for Comp too,
FH's are one of the best classic looking sports wheels ever in my opinion, I love'em!
I have a set of 15's in 4 x 98 pcd to work with now, and a short while ago i had a set of 4 in 15" for sale, 5 x 120 pcd too!

Oooh, a Jensen Interceptor Florence and Fred. Nice colour too
There was an Interceptor III at Auto Italia, which made me stop and think, but I suppose it is Italian styled...

That colour suits it well. Most surprised as if asked I would have been doubtful about it.
