Down south our cars are covered in this damn red dust. How to get it off not owning a hosepipe?

Its horrible stuff ... as the day has gone on it looks like someone has used a big sieve with sand on the cars ... it just looks sand coloured mostly .. however ... where it has fallen against the wiper scuttle and sever other areas its does have an orangey redness to it. Anyway .. I'm not using my car this weekend so it can stay as it is and get done monday. Not got time tbh ..
Tomorrow I am collecting my eldest from Luton airport .. 125 miles away and Sunday we are off to Silveratone 90 odd miles away .... got some free tickets from Alfashop .... so we shall take the ugly car (Guilietta) free fuel and not putting the miles on my 156 ... . its fastly aproaching 154k .. mind you the plan is to get as many miles on it lol .. so really its just about graeme having free fuel ... :D

Bloody mechanics / electricians :x

RANT OF THE DAY:

IF you are a mechanic, or an auto electrician, or you like to be considered as both, and you've no idea what an old Alfa is, JUST TELL YOUR CUSTOMER THAT YOU CANT DO IT !!!

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, then they will lose the customer and that customers money as well !!!

Been working on a Spider S3 for the past 2 weeks

Changed engine mounts, removed gearbox, changed clutch kit and gearbox mount, changed and balanced carbs, starter motor, throttle linkages etc etc... All these done in 3 afternoons. The rest of the 10 days, I've been fixing gremlins in the wiring of the car, finding short circuits, bad connections, messed up and bad groundings, lose cables, bypassed relays etc etc.

Almost done now, just the power window relay to sort - but I'm gonna need some help for that as I cant figure out why it doesnt reverse polarities  - and then a good wash and polish, and off it goes !!!

oh and Joe... its time you change into something more suitable ! :?

I sympathize with your pain Chris - It took me months going from one auto electrician to the next with the 6C........ :x then I ended up doing it myself..... ;)

All sorted :) And by all, I mean ALL !!!

Every single feature works on this car now, every single switch, every single illumination light :)

I'm quite pleased with myself

Only the rear diff oil to change now, and off it goes for a professional compound, polish, nano treatment and engine bay wash ;)

I probably shouldnt bring this subject up in this thread, but I thought that by mentioning "polish" I would get the attention of Joe as well
