The fake split speedlines were available in both 14 and 15 inch in 4 stud fitment, but they deteriorated rather badly and they dont appear for sale very often.
I think the 33 body shape suits many sizes and styles, (except skinny little 14's!

) and a little lower is a really good look.
Id say minimum 15's which work really well on a 33, wearing 195 or 205 50 15's, bigger can work, 17's and even 18's if chosen wisely , and an old skool 16 is a nice inbetween.
The 5 spokes speedlines you have are a nice classic style, i still love a good 5 spoke. Good clean design and not too busy!
I have some dished Borbet A's in 16" x 7.5j that would be a nice classic 5 spoke, and I've seen them on a 33, great look!
You all new this turn of the thread would become a shameless plug, right?

Looks like 18s to me, they fill the arch pretty much like mine do, the black team dynamics on the white s3 are 18 x 8j, and on 215 35 18 rubber.
Tricky fit though, but easier than the 17 x 9j it was wearing before!

another busy day with an early start for me, out of the house by 7-30!
after another lengthy session of flatting & polishing we ended up with some decent finish across all the panels, very happy with the results for what facilities we have
finally time to get it down on the ground and get it outside....
once the final wax went on then time to get it into the sunlight for some pix
the car is just stunning now, if I do say so myself. red cars are just superb and this one suits the colour a treat

car back in the workshop now, it'll be collected next Wednesday
the last minute roof repairs seem to have been worth it,
my idea of a millpond picture
and lastly, paul checking out the stance
big thanks to paul for trusting me with the job, we're both pleased it's come out so well. glad that the 33 will finally be the envy of the neighbours rather than the butt of the usual rusty Alfa jokes

Kev , you and Paul have done a cracking job on the car.
It looks fantastic and it is great to know the car's future is safe for many more years.

A massive thanks to Kev this week, and yes possibly my best week off work for a while. He has done one hell of a job which I am very very happy with, above my expectations. I really wanted the wings to be framed and one my wall they are that perfect.
So as Kev has all the plastic bits of trim and bumpers to crack on with I have the rebuild to get done, with Kev setting me the deadline of July 9th N.A.D.
I will try to keep you all up to date with progress but will be a couple of weeks before I can get really stuck in. And yes Shrew the skinny 14's will be going back on, but jury out on the lowering springs for now.
So once again Thanks Kev.

No bigger than 15 inch I'd say, the 155 wheels suit it, the speedline pepper pots look nice but are awful as shrew states, overall I'd prefer zenders

They suit the series 3 better than the s2 also and came fitted to some s3.

cheers for the comments guys, it's been a great week for turning a car round which has turned out pretty decently
an enjoyable week off work for sure
went up there this afternoon just to check out what's left to do on the next stage....
besides the bumpers and rear spoiler there are quite a few bits & bobs still to do....around 20 or so in total!
some parts will need painting on all sides so laying flat isn't really an option, I decided that using some double sided tape and sticking them to something to make painting all sides would be best...
some parts like the mirror casings also need paint on multiple surfaces, best solution I found was to tape a loop of wire to the control cables, this will allow me to hang them up for painting
most other pieces i'll be able to hang up when I start priming next Wednesday after the car has gone
all these pieces will get plasticiser in the mix as they will need a degree of flexibility, the parts that don't can just have it anyway

Really nice finale to this car, well done all, a fitting restoration of what always had the potential to be a cracker of a car.
Hanging parts to paint, even large panels is so much safer than horizontal as far as getting fallout in the finish, laid flat can spell disaster even in a booth on occasion.
Funny one this week, a gloss black volvo wing, all repaired, primed, coloured, beautifully, and then immediately after final lacquer a small moth marched from the bonnet down to the arch, getting stuck just short of the arch lip.
I wish id taken a photo of the footpath he'd left behind him, it was devastation, and almost comical! Almost!

Been there mate. They always seem to try and take the longest route from A to B, and never make it.

today was the day for the 33 to leave my little workshop to begin its' build up, I'll leave that job to Paul
with some space back it was time for a tidy up and then get all the plastics ready to be primed, as I thought they would it all but filled the workshop again!
the rear spoiler needed to be able to be painted on the underside and around the mounts so I made up a couple of simple brackets and bolted it to them, then rested in a pair of axle stand bases meant it perched at just the right height to allow easy painting underside and above
the gutter trims I'd not had space to paint with the shell so they handily got perched on a door stand

this isn't the grille threaded onto a bottle, it just has a weight on it to stop it falling off the gas bottle when the spray gun blows on it
my little washing line of bits and bobs
everything got coated in plastic adhesion promoter then the usual primer with added plasticiser
I should get back down there on Saturday to flat the primer then get some red on it all
ready for the refit

a full day today saw the progress move on a treat
all primer flatted off then re-masked
red went on pretty well, tried hard to plan the spraying of pieces to minimise overspray in the air but doing the fiddly bits first and smaller pieces in my hand where possible, did mean I got through an extraordinary amount of latex gloves!
leaving the laid down surfaces until last like the bumpers and spoiler should hopefully reduce the overspray dust to be flatted out

All looks nice and clean Kev.
Good method doing small stuff first and I know what you mean about the gloves.

cheers guys, pleased with the outcome.
bookings Liam? new premises this summer will help things but as it's still a spare time thing then I'm busy for a while yet, got my own integrale to get back to plus another couple of long standing commitments but things could change in the future.
