Hey it worked too! lol!
The cars looked amazing, well done the pair of you, and i'm sure John did more than just like it!
Incidentally, just ahead of your car Kev, did you note the little blue number that David C arrived in?
That's what happens if you use the local Polack park n polish too much on your TT Quattro Dave, it shrinks and stains!

finally got chance to set the tappets last night on the sud after cutting down a 5mm allen key to the required length to fit through the camshaft
car sounds much better now, not surprising really as most valves were way out of adjustment, equally between too loose and too tight. could well be a factor in the high hydro-carbons redaing at the mot.
tonight with an hour or so to myself i set about getting the wind deflector for the fold back roof sorted out.
i'd gathered all the parts together some time back, finding a supplier of a new deflector screen helped as did coming across the missing hinges in a box of bits.
being near 40 years old they needed a bit of a polish to bring back up but they've coem up pretty good.
all rivetted back to the car now and looking a good fit. hopefully it'll stop the booming noise when the roof is peeled back at anything over 50mph!

So Kev, is that everything done on the 'Sud, or are you just now full bore working on the Lancia?
cheers
Ian

Still quite a few little jobs to do Ian, but I won't get time or chance to finish them as the car is sold now.
Delta arrives next week but the way things are that won't get much of a look in for a good while yet.
Fulvia though is progressing nicely which gets most if not all my attention of late.
Got a couple more little recommisiong jobs to do also, a Beta HPE to get up and running and new cam-belt, maybe a head gasket which will be up for sale once we get it runnign and tested. Then a Ginetta with a Fiat twin-cam to do similar to which will also be up for sale.
Still busy
Good news though is the hole I ground into the back of my hand has healed up after 2 weeks

There's a thread we could start right there, ` the most annoying self inflicted injury whilst working on a car'
I bet that niggled a bit when you caught it in the first week.

My thoughts exactly - but I guess you have a lot of projects on the go, so you can't hang on to everything. Did think the silver 'Sud was a bit of a keeper though, hope the new owner appreciates all the hard work you have put into it!
Twin-cam Ginetta sounds interesting, G27 or something more interesting?
(G12, G12, G12, please, please...)

yes, sold. but going to a good home
never truly felt like i'd earned this one though, or was more a feeling that i'd not started from a basket case so wasn't really mine.
would have probably kept it though if the lure of a delta integrale didn't finally get me...
the ginetta is a G27 lauren, and a nice change to have a fiat twin-cam rather than a ford engine. has quite a few additional details done to it too, which i can't recall now!
it will be for sale soon if anyone is looking for something a little different, at quite a bit below ginetta prices too
the self inflicted injury was my own stupid fault. picking up the angle grinder one handed, with the lethal knotted wheel attched, and
not putting the welding gloves on like normal all made sure that when it grabbed and twisted oout of my grip it fell onto my other hand, spinning knotted wheel doing it's best to excavate some flesh.
did sting a bit but luckily the scab formed inside the hole so didn't start catching it until it was nearly ready to come off.

oh dear, that's rather good timing.
it's jims' up the road from me.......and i know he's spoken before about liking 147 GTA's....anyone else spot a deal coming up?

i'll ask him for you.
i know he did quite a few nice touches to it from factory spec, but can't remember exactly what now! it's nicely trimmed out inside i seem to remember. has the twin-cam 2 litre from the fiat donor car, a 131 i think. our plan is to get it back up and running as it's been stood for a good few years now, so we plan on fitting a new cam-belt and changing all the fluids, going through the brakes etc then getting a test on it, prob a new set of tyres etc.
good sorted ones are around 12k or so but as jim's would benefit from some fresh paint as it's micro blistered in places then it'll be offered around 7k or maybe less if we don't spend a fortune getting it back on the road.
i know he'd take less for it as is but i convinced him he'd get a better price if we got it running and tested etc, like i need the extra work of course!
if you're interested in any way, as is or a part ex deal with the GTA if he's interested, i can ask him as i'll be seeing him over the weekend.

Oh gosh no!
i can't do anything with the GTA, thats going towards getting the folks a newer 4x4 truck type thing, so i don't think it'd go down too well turning up in a 2 seater sports car!
the G27 sounds a nice prospect, but i probably undervalued it, suspecting it might have been like most of Jims "other" stock of cars i'm afraid
no offence meant

lol, jims stock is a funny collection that's for sure.
out of them all (dedra turbo apart) the one he reckons he'll not sell is the mkV cortina!

Must be tough Kev as you said you always wanted one.
Anybody know who bought the panels on ebay tonight?
There is another sud on the mend. Two inner wing rails and sills all went to the same buyer.
Good news, hope it is someone here.
