Well we had a bit of fun, avoided the BIG rocks and logs and finished 30th O/A and 9th in class.

Result is ok but didnt feel brave enough as others with the rocks lining the stage. car went well and handled well on the loose.

Roll on Rockingham on Dec 3rd and 4th.

brilliant venue if someone wants to watch in comfort.

All the best rsfruitbat

Well Rockingham has come and gone.
Really enjoyed the event. Result was slightly marred by circumstances beyond our control.
First instance was a rolled car and the marshal couldnt decide what he wanted us to do. Cost us at leats 20 seconds,
Second instance was the real kick in the teeth. event ran out of time to run the last stage. This meant that about 12 cars got a notional time. Organisers take the slowest "reasonable" time and give everyone affected that time. Because of a poor seeding i was one of those cars. instaed of getting a time of approx 11:10 (comparing myself with others in my class) i was given a notional time of 12:33. Went from being second in class with a big lead over the guy in 3rd to 4th in class and needing to make a second a mile up to get my second in class back.
Couldnt do it on the day so finished 44 O/A and 3rd in class. Without the incidents would have been 42 O/A and 2nd in class.

Great to see and have a chat with Keith, Tim and Tims Dad. Really pleased you could make it and hope you felt I kept the Alfa flag flying, literally.

Hopefully you enjoyed it enough to venture out again?

I will definately make the effort to get to a race meet next year.

Hi Adie,
It was great to meet up with you and your team, and I really enjoyed the day.
It was non-stop action all day and really interesting to see how a different discipline in motor sport uses the facility. It took some getting use to, seeing cars going in all directions. :o
Thanks for putting up your posts and I will try and get to other meets.
It was great seeing the happy face of your 33 on the track and that singing little boxer you have built sounds great. Shame your final position was messed up, but glad you still enjoyed the event.
Keep flying that flag 8-)
Cheers,
Keith.

gutted to have missed it mate, all planned on getting there but a broken cambelt changed that plan :( had a little gift sorted for you and everything

the notional time thing always bugged me. why they couldn't compare competitors previous clean stage times to give a more accurate guess is beyond me, especially in this computer age.

Given up on the forest stuff these days.
Not enough talent, not enough brave pills and not enough money! old girl tends to get knocked about quite a bit on the forest stuff so decided to give it a miss now.

However..

I did hear that they are maybe going to get my favourite venue back next year which is near Grantham, RAF Barkston Heath

Really enjoyed Rockingham, first time I've been to an event like that. Grantham is closer to me so keep us in the loop on that.

I'm going to try and see a similar event at cadwell.

Next event pencilled in is at Weston Park nr Telford in March but hopefuly the wife will be driving for that one.
I am targetting MIRA towards the end of April. Its a non-spectator event but i may be able to get a couple of people in a service crew if someone had a burning desire?

If Barkston Heath runs then i was told it would be mid September.

Next job is fit electric power steering!

Pressing ahead now with an Electric Power Steering system for the rally car.

Not going to be quite as simple as some conversions as the motor and connections are the same size as my current column so ahving to come up with new mounts etc. Anyway its started.

Will update as i go along.

in case anyone is interetsed we have got to change our seats soon so they are advetised in "other stuff" if anyone is interested.

Electric Power Steering fitted and working :D
Bit of a mare to do as the EPS column is the same size as the standard item. No cut and shut here!
Ended up fabricating new mounting brackets for the installation. Brackets were complicated but the most complicated thing was sorting out the UJ joint.
On a brief road test it seems good.

Unlike the brakes :(
Moved the car to find a big pool of brake fluid. Looks like the seal has given up the ghost .

How does it do it that just sat doing nothing????

Anyway now the EPS is working i have taken it all back out to do some TLC and tidying up in the footwell.

Sounds like a good upgrade. You got any photos of the installation? Good luck with the brakes ;)

how do you like the EPS mate? did you fit a control knob so you can alter the assistance?

the ones we fitted to the VW campervans made a huge difference for parking

guessing you'll need it on very light assistance ?
