The Chris Snowden Racing sticker in the rear window is a clue, - I've seen this car at the Goodwood Revival 3 or 4 years ago, but can't remember what it is ! - but Isuzu is a good shout, it's something obscure !

Correct!

Cheers Shrew, I had no idea on that one, but good old google and detective work introduced me to a whole new world of some great looking gems.

I never would have identified the Isuzu from the engine - good spot!
Since I developed my recent JDM obsession I have really got into Isuzus - 1970 Bellett MX1600 concept (not the Tom Tjaarda one, the second car styled in-house), the Giugiaro penned 117, 1972 Sportwagon concept, R6 racer (1969, the swoopy coupe) and even the Piazza Turbo!

You started something with the mention of a sportwagon/ shootingbrake Lauren.
Had to look for one, love the back end (if this is the one you mean) and I remember liking the Piazza when I saw it at the Earls Court motor show, would it have been around '85 /6 ? Think there was also the Jaguar Lynx there, another fave.

Crikey when I first looked at that a Montreal SW came to mind.

Ooooooh yes

Nobody seems to be sure, but it is possible that Giugiaro styled this concept as well. In Japan estate cars of any sort tended to be viewed as commercial vehicles (like vans), so the distinctive side window treatment (an extreme example of the earlier Reliant Scimitar, and the contemporary TVR Zante) was intended to make it quite clear that this car was meant for sport!
The prototype Piazza turbo was shown in 1979, but it took until 1982 to reach production (and probably the mid-eighties before it was on sale here). Based on the Isuzu Gemini of course, so nothing spectacular underneath, but at least with a turbo OHC engine it was more modern than the equivalent Vauxhall 1256 OHV!

Now that would have been something - a poor man's Lamborghini Espada (or a wealthy man's Lotus Elite 501)...

You sure get to some shows Tony.
I only got the Karmann Ghia, Marcos Mantula and the Mk 1 Cortina estate, not sure of any of the others. Last one maybe a Camaro ss ?
Hopefully, someone else can fill in the gaps.
Thanks.

Yup, that's all the ones I recognised as well. How can you tell the Marcos is a Mantula? Is it the rubbish looking door handles?

Well I was sure it was a Marcos , then looked at the different models on google images

Yes, it was that awful door handle.
Sorry, is that cheating?

i'd change to a more reliable blade type set up simon, cheap enough but more importantly gets rid of the very poor contact with the ceramic ones

				Hi Kev,
Thanks for that. I am sure you are correct in terms of reliability but I am trying not to take away any of the period kit in it.
I am hoping these may be period Fiat or similar?

Simon

Simon,
I have a feeling that they're early Ferrari 308GTB or maybe possibly Dino 246/308GT4 fuse boards - they look the same as mine. Try Superformance in Hoddesdon as they stock new ones. Hope that helps.

				Hi Ted,
Thanks for that. Really helpful.
I am now the proud owner of two new ones after biting the bullet on the Ferrari price tag.
All the best,
