Door bottom all solid again
Then a new seal retaining plate needed making up and welding on
The outer skin had these few scabs...
All chopped out and a new door bottom let in..
Bottom edge fitted with sealant where it's lipped over

Cheers Tim, a labour of love so although it's painful to have a week off work and be this busy at least it's been a long time coming so will be worth it...
Today I finally just about got everything prepped, the big pieces like the roof are plain sailing, all the little PITA bits like door shuts, hatch shut, under bonnet etc are the time consuming bits.
Still, a bit more cleaning tomorrow morning then mask up time and get some etch then filler prime on it.
Only doing two doors at this stage as I am limited on space and only have two hanging frames! Could hang them off a wooden beam like we did for Pauls' 33 but space is tight.
Next stage once these parts are out of the way then the bonnet, rear hatch, other doors, front wings etc will be done.
Last set of parts will be the plastics like bonnet vents, bumpers etc.

Nice one Kev.
Relentless pace, as always.
This is the good stage when the primer goes on and you get to see the work you have done sealed in and looking all the same colour.
Enjoying the progress you have made.

Yes, the priming stage is always a big boost, must admit to getting a bit tired of it all now but I need to at least keep pressing on with the paint whilst we've still got some weather..
Today the last few bits got finished off then the laborious task of masking out, another job that I really don't enjoy.
Etch primed..
Then full filler primer

Most impressive. A lot of work but you now have a very desirable car. Well nearly, that is to say you soon will have.

Yes, it has been a lot of work mate but still not out of the woods...loads still to do but this is a significant step towards completion.
Today it all got flatted off which went well, all seems pretty straight, well the amount of filler primer I sprayed on allowed it to be!
Happy with the new arches how they've come out, handy they are so boxy in shape!
The rear doors on the integrale are not actually made from full new doors, they make them from regular doors then the extended section is flanged and spot welded in, hence the seams that run up and across. Amazing how they don't creep moisture in the gap, guess they must have used very good sealant.
Now all cleaned down. floors swept, degreased again then remasked ready for the red tomorrow.

Yes, spray day is the best
Happy that all the prep is done besides a clean down again in the morning.
Weather is supposed to be windy and showers tomorrow, like tonight, so I'll get the heat going.
Beans on toast before I set off, should see me through, no time to stop once I get going
Nice red pix tomorrow night I hope

Finish has come out pretty decent, some dust and overspray drop on it but that's my circumstances with the building I'm in.
What's not the buildings fault though is my giddy moment where I reinacted Niagara Falls

Probably gonna go up to the unit on Sunday to flat and polish it all up.
Be nice to have something where I can start putting things back on to!

Superb work done there my old friend.
You are getting the grip on this spraying lark.
I bet the grin on your face may even be bigger than when you and Rob turned up at the pub in the Imp
She is going to look great when all back together. Lovely.
If that is the only run you got, top bloke. Trust me, that hasn't even broken into a trot.!!
Brilliant !!

Cheers mate, appreciate the comments greatly
The smile will come back I'm sure, early next year around springtime I'd guess
One question you may be able to answer mate, either from your vast experience or through data at work? The door frames are black, would that just be a satin black or is there a code available?
The spraying itself I do actually enjoy, it's the ballache that comes before it that drags

And yes, that run was the only one.. well besides the matching one on the other side arch!
Brain fade following the contours of the rear arches too much and double dosing where I shouldn't have!

That isn't the red I imagined Kev. Maybe the pics don't reveal the true colour accurately.

I think digital pictures sometimes don't show the true colour mate, it looks more orange in the pics than in real life.
Rosso Monza 155....

I think you're probably right Kev, from the pics it looks like my Mito in Giulietta Red.

I would think just a satin black would be fine on the door frames Kev. Aerosol or gun applied. Not aware of a specific code.

Satin can be a pain to match . It's around 30-40 % gloss if I remember right . Aerosol cans mite be be an option.but not as much control as a gun .

I'm gonna do all 4 doors at the same time plus the weather strips so I'll probably get half a litre of mixed satin for the spray gun, might even use that little gun I got JB

Morning kev
Yes the touch in gun will be perfect for this job .half a litre should be enough for what you want.

Cheers JB.
I'll do all doors and weatherstrips in one hit once I've done the other doors.
Be a nice little test run for that little gun still in its' box

There great little guns. I bought another to do shading.you can turn the fan right down .quite close to an airbrush. I'll put up some photos of a custom paint job I did last week , using lace
