yes, just the little 4 pot alpine but a lovely example nonetheless.

didn't think to take any underbonnet pics, snook these ones while out testing the brakes, was just superb under the bonnet

Very true Johnboy, however they spoilt it a bit by speeding up the chase sequence around the mountain roads Bond films have had some great cars though, including some Alfas chasing around Lake Como?

I always liked the sunbeam, lovely looking car, but drastically under-engined in my opinion, just like a lot of period british cars.

Why they never used larger engines in the Tiger is beyond me when it was built with that facility clearly available.

Maybe a small block 350/357 would have been the ideal mix, but i can't help loving the full monty conversions

Well I am still working on the Ronart - Got the exhaust fitted and now doing the interior after the seats have been trimmed.

Still working on the Ronart getting the dashboard wiring done - lots of wires needing extending and terminal changing so busy with the soldering iron and heat shrink tubing!

Been gone again for a while, but for good reason !

Dont get much sleep, but then again, I havent been sleeping much for the past 2 years or so :p

Only thing that worries me is that his big brother , who is now 2 years old, is very jealous

Following the baby talk yesterday I was working on brake bleeding on the Ronart. Three went fine but the fourth one did this...... .....and yes it is the inaccessible rear nipple at the back next to the diff!!
Now I realise that we are back to baby talk but with a broken nipple.........

my own woes are currently trying to sort out my workshop compressors,

ive spent too many hours and far too much money on thus far, the wrong things!

Well to resurrect this thread - I'm still working on the Ronart trying to get it through the IVA test. That requires lots of things tweeking so the aeroscreens are off - therefore no need for wipers and washers, the wire wheels are off so no need to get wheel spinner covers, the sharp edges on hinges and petrol cap sorted by internal hinges and no Monza filler cap, a passenger head rest fitted etc etc etc.
Anyway it went in Nov and failed on a variety of fairly minor electrical/ mechanical details and emissions. These were fixed and it was retested last week - but still failed on emissions only.
The test is just the basic MoT emissions for older cars - No visible smoke and limits on CO and HC, only at idle, with a hot engine. The tester did say that with the rebuilt engine being "tight" it may be that the carbs are having to do more work at idle so are set too rich. Anyway it is booked to a different workshop for setting up on Monday and back to Norwich on Wednesday.
Here is a poor pic of the car on the trailer with its IVA set up.

Hopefully once through the IVA the passenger headrest and wheels can come off and wires and aeroscreens can go back on? I take it that this car was never registered prior to being recommissioned?

While I accept the need to verify build standards in amateur-built cars (we are all amateurs after all), I find a lot of these rules utterly ridiculous - like putting protective covers over exposed bolt heads underneath the car, in case you injure someone while running over them...

Good luck with the re-test, lets hope the car gets through this time. I like Ronarts.

You are quite correct Lauren - and my inspector was very frank and helpful - but as he said "as long as it satisfies what is in the book- when tested - it is fine......".

They will go back on, but I have to wait for the DVLA to say whether or not I need an MoT as well - in which case the pretty bits will go on after that hurdle!

Well the Ronart is still awaiting DVLA paperwork so yesterday I was working on.........

talk about stupid

people say alfas are difficult to work on......a ford ka should be simple?
my lads one needs a new glove box lid, a little sprung loaded lid for the tiny glovebox that sits in the dash top, like a bread bin lid.
ka's are seemingly prone to them breaking.

to get the stupid thing off there are 3 screws holding it in place to the dashboard from underneath, viewed when you put your head in the passenger footwell.
not that you can undo them, they face down! you'd need a 180deg bend in your screwdriver to get on the head then there's no room to get any movement!
can just about get some needle nosed molegrips onto the bottom of the threads to crack them off i guess.
seems like they fit the 'box before the dash goes in and don't expect it to need to come out, despite the latch being made of toffee

Not fan of the ka at least you like welding as they seem to be the only modern car that still rust badly
