The sales catalogue of the S2 TI clearly shows silver coloured wheels and also definitely not the 4.5J width. Just from a visual inspection I would guess that the 5.5J wheels are applied. For the S1 TI it seems as somebody pointed out earlier that the earlier vehicles have the light grey coloured wheels but later official pictures appear to have a more silver coloured appearance.

A gentleman in Italy is selling his 5 never used steel wheels from his Sprint Veloce. According to his advertisement he immediately replaced the steel wheels with alloys and therefore these are described as never used. The date stamp in the wheels state 1980 and the width is 5.5J which corresponds to some of the comments previously stated within this thread that the early vehicles had 4.5J and 5J wheels and the later ones the 5.5J. The advertised wheels from 1980 show a silverish colour, most probably the factory original colour.

We all know that Suds can be very different depending on who supplied the components to make one.
I.e. Ducellier MagnettI, Bosch. Weber, Dellorto Solex.
Etc etc.
It still amazes me how many brands supplied original oil filters for Suds. Badged and coloured AR but the detail is in the fine small print on the side.
I believe this is probably closest to the truth of the matter too Dave.
Alfa didnt make or likely paint their own wheels, they were bought in as 99 percent of production factories still do today.
Therefore the exact paint codes and colours could vary considerably depending on the source and factory at the time.
I'm sure there are many correct answers here for a single year of Alfasud factory production I'm afraid to say.
On the finish note, im sure keith is correct in saying that the use of solvent based paints would be most likely back in the day, almost certainly i would think. I'm pretty sure they werent powder coated or stoved, it wasn't that tough as i recall and you would very likely not have quite the definition in the stamped wheel spec text either if they were, as it could easily fill that out with anymore than a single waft of a coat!
Interesting....

Re: TI S1/S2 & Sprint S1 steel wheel spec.
I need to correct my earlier post. I did not realise the wheel size was stamped on the rim. My S1 cars ( Yes I have two awaiting restoration ) have 5j wheels not 5.5j as I said in my first post. I remembered that a friend of the family had one of the first four speed saloons and that it had narrower tyres than my Ti and therefore made an assumption about wheel sizes. My apologies. I presume the first cars had 4.5j wheels ? My 1976 car had inner tubes on all four wheels when I bought it in 1978 and I am 90% sure that was how it left the factory the wheels not having a lip to hold the tyre in place. Not that that stopped local tyre fitters throwing away the inner tubes.
If someone has a handbook for a series one car this should confirm wheel sizes. As for colour I tried T cutting a small area as I think the blue colour has faded over the years but it did not make any difference? I shall try and attach a photo.
