Kev,

Dont think you would look back fella,
No such thing as luck, hard work,
which you are clearly not scared off,

Good Luck.

Great job as always Kev, Can't wait to see the parts and start putting it all together.
As you know I agree with the other guys, and would be happy to help fit out the "spray booth" as we planned out last week, the place is made for it.
Be a big step but you would have more free time (to get that Delta finished) and see more of the misses, she might wonder who you are mind

Should get them all polished up tomorrow mate, I'll drop as much in to you Saturday morning as I can, tell Lou to make some space in the garage. Don't want a 'bike dropping on them :)

Few hours spent on the car this afternoon. Plan was to get all the waxoyling done. Having borrowed an air gun from Kev.
First was to unload the boxes of parts that have been in storage for the last few months.
IMG_20170404_185111183.jpg
All this and more has to fit into this.
IMG_20170404_185147840.jpg
.
So a quick clean inside tracer to get rid of all dust etc gained from the spraying and the car backed out onto my dad's drive was time to get the compresser out. So got started with the waxoyl, passengers side cill and cross members done then on to the door internals again passenger's side all done then on to the driver's side. No air.... Compressor packed up. Spent the next hour trying to get it going but to no avail.
So ditched the waxoyling for now and concentrated on the shut lines.
Front doors needed to be lifted to align with the rears properly which meant the front wings had to come off to get at the hinges, then to refit the wings using stainless bolts, a couple of attempts each side to get the door lines okay then to line the bonnet to the wings. Bit of time with the bonnet hinges and the bonnet catch and all looked good.
IMG_20170404_191353694.jpg
Than scuttle cover fitted with washer pipes etc, then fitted the washer bottle under the wing.
_IMG_000000_000000.jpg
Surprising where the time goes when you are trying to get the shut lines sorted but still will need fine tuning once the door latches are back on. So with 6 hours in I felt I had achieved so little but time to put it away until next week.

I've a little 50litre compressor at home mate if you want to borrow it, it'll run the waxoyl gun no problem

car looking better with some contrasting black bits on though 8-)

Yep it absorbs time, but think of the many hours it will annoy you for if you have not lined it all up well.

Looking good. Keep going. :D

about my last update post on the thread

spent the day flatting & polishing all the parts I'd painted last Saturday, all 21 pieces! well, apart from one door mirror base that had some reaction so I sanded that back and painted it again, thankfully this time it's gone on smooth

same old same old pics, most bits now ready for fitting.

IMG_20170405_194846556[1].jpg
one last pic though, i'm useless at tidying up as Paul rightly points out. should really have packed away the Mrs spare kettle I borrowed to flat the primer down.......whoops :?

So had some time today to progress with the rebuild.
Got the rest of the waxoyling done having borrowed a Compressor from Kev, thanks mate.
Had another look at the shut lines and decided to move the offside wing back another millimetre or two just to even the sides up, happy now but still need to check the nearside rear once the catches are fitted.
Roof lining next, which was a little saggy for a start.
IMG_20170411_191832401.jpg
Got it all up in place with a bit of a struggle but got there, all the roof accessories fitted.
IMG_20170411_190700053.jpg
Then with only a little time left before I had to get home, Mrs had booked the Tesco delivery for 4pm, joy, so quickly fitted the rear bumper and lights, got the bumper off the garage floor so feel happier that it has less chance of any damage.

So shopping away and then got the grill reassembled which I think looks great now, but will probably be one of the last things to go on the car, but hey with a couple of minutes spare I couldn't resist.

A couple of hours spare this afternoon, so had a look at the front bumper to add in the black section in the slots which are in front of the radiator as per original spec. Clearly all was painted red by Kev knowing I was going to add the satin black later which meant that the paint was adhered to the plastic.
So was just a matter of making the area off.
IMG_20170412_220742712.jpg
scotching it back for the rattle can satin black to adhere. Then fully masked out the red that needs to stay red.
IMG_20170412_220806662.jpg
Then on with the black. A few coats later and masking off and happy with the result.

Yes I use autoglym vinal and plastic care, but I apply it once to clear all the crap off and thoroughly rub it, I then apply a second coat and buff it up, which will usually dry dull, then I add a third and a forth coat very wet and just smear it across the surface and then let it dry naturally which dries with a sheen, leave for a hour or so then lightly buff. Looks really good but I know will wear off after a while I guess.

So a bit more done today.
New disc's, brake calipers back on and bled.
A few other bits done like the gutter rails refitted, bit of a pain putting the rubbers back in as they fitted like an awning on a caravan so had to be threaded from front to back very trying!
Mirrors back on after they got their cables all connected and body's rebuilt last week.
Got issues with the central locking at the moment too. All working when I took it to bits but now refuses to operate. All the doors lock independently but not with the key as you would expect, all that happens is the key door locks and the relay makes a long buzzing sound. So new relay ordered hoping that it solves the problem. Could be an earth though but didn't have time to check.

So a couple or so of days off over the last three weeks has meant I have been able to make good progress. Putting it all back together with the parts I had spent fixing painting cleaning and labeling over the winter months. So pics of the last three weeks eventually getting to today's pics.
IMG_20170524_222239881.jpg
Heater box going back in, been in the attic for. A while after I sorted all the cables and controls.

Carpet back in with seats to follow.

Central dash back in, bit of a struggle with the heater cables etc but got there in the end.

So then it was lights front bumper, fog lights and side repeaters. And finally getting the central locking working.
Then on to today. Got the last door cards in, inner wing covers fitted, changed to the original wheels and then the finally the side skirts are back on....

refer back to here to see how the car has been transformed, these shots are flattering in some ways! the lacquer peel in many panels, rot in a couple of door bottoms, along with the usual faded red (pink) paintwork that meant constantly having to polish it up before going out in it and the transformation is all the more impressive
glad to have been a help
and that paul had the vision to see what it could be ;)

Good to see the contrasting pictures on the same page.
MOT booked for next Wednesday so fingers crossed for it.
And a big thanks to Kev for all his help and generosity with the car in may more ways than one, as without his help it would still be a vision.
I have to say I am very happy with the results and can't wait to get driving it.
