33 16v has to go, opinions?

Post by PETROLHEAD »

Hi all

Tis' a sad day but the decision is made that my trusty series 3 16v 33 qv has to go :(

For no other reasons than financial and time really, this year is over half way through, and i've still not touched that garage at all, as i plough on with the 164 qv and spend more on plans for the sud, the 33 is yet again languishing at the back of the que, which is not fair at all.

It was my intention to modify to veloce side skirts and front bumper instead of the cloverleaf kit, but nothing is beyond return, and the car can be either completed to order, i.e. choice of colour and specs, or returned to its original build and colour.

The engine is currently out for detailing, and the engine bay is prepped in satin black to suit any colour choice.

The original colour, is a feint champagne metallic, the code escapes me for the moment, but as far as we know, theres only one other in the uk at least, which is deggy's car.

It is solid as a rock, probably the best you could buy today without a doubt, no rust, and no welding required. The very minor issues it had when i first bought have been dealt with, Kev did a couple of small area's at the sill ends into the arch whilst i grafted in an aircraft filler cap into the fuel filler area. This is the only mod that would be tricky to reverse, but not impossible of course but there would be no good reason too.

The car itself is a green Cloverleaf, and i have the origional order/sales form arranging the extras, sunroof, metallic paint colur, seat etc etc, in fact i have a huge amount of paperwork and history for it, incredible because the car has only only covered about 42k miles from new!

I bought from a restoration guy down Crawley way, does Alfa's for dealers down that way, and Wood and Picket mini's if i remember correctly, but his name completely escapes me, and i ha feeling the car was possibly his mothers?

Replacement gearbox supplied with the car because even at such low miles the 2nd gear synchro was tired

Beautiful alcantara recaros, fronts retrimmed, and unsat in since, full black pleather/vinyl door cards etc to match.

Stainless steel exhaust system of course, did about 200 miles if i'm lucky
I'm sadly missing all my early photos before the work started, as they were on a memory stick that got corrupted, but i have loads of work shots to show how particular area's have been addressed and the condition.

Essentially, and currently, this is a complete car in bits, i.e. the engine and gearbox are out, front suspension is off, the seats are out. So, i can offer the car in a number of options and priced accordingly.

For starters, i'll reassemble the front suspension so that it is a rolling car anyway, and can refit the seats if need be, or leave them out until the bodywork and paint is finalised.

I guess really, for speed, i'd prefer to sell it as it is, maybe finish all the priming so its ready for paint how ever the new owner choses, even though i appreciate its not going to be anywhere near it proper value which thankfully nowadays should be considerable for a car of this standard, mileage and history.

Alternatively, i can by negotiation, paint the car according to your choice, and provide a whole host of parts, upgrades, and spares depending on what way you might want to go with it.

I have standard skirts and bumpers, or veloce side skirts and a modified to fit 75 veloce evo front bumper, spare cloverleaf bumpers, full set of spare doors, bonnets, tailgate, dash parts, lights, trims alsorts.

I also have a fully rebuilt set of sports suspension, with AVO and Koni adjustable suspension struts with AVO springs, OMP strut brace, and possibly a huge brake upgrade option too, consisting of 306mm vented discs and Brembo 4 piston calipers!

Choice of stereo head units, good quality units, aftermarket wheels, etc etc

Either discuss options on here, come and see it for yourself, pm me, email me, etc etc

Here to sell, best 33 you could buy with a final push to finish,

what do you think folks :?: :?: :?:

I see where you are coming from mate. I have the same issue with mine except mine is ready to drive but it just sits in a garage not being used :| I just can't get myself to sell it :)

Yeah it'll be a wrench, if it sells at all i might add! :|

If i finish it myself, odds on I'd want to keep it again ha ha!

Its a weird conundrum, very undecided about it, so kinda hoping someone makes the choice for me if you know what i mean :?:

I'm not sure I want to tell you mate, I quite like mine being the only one on the road! Only kidding, its called bianco argento (white gold on italian) I would be a shame mate, it's too good to strip and sell for parts and it's in abit to much of a project state to be appealing to the average person. By the way only 4 ofthese on the road according to how many left! I say keep it, If not sell me some bits hahaha

Oh stripping or spares was never on the cards deg, no no no! Lol!

More the opportunity for someone to buy it as a reassemble/paint project,

Or

Arrange with me what spec and colour theyd like it to be and ill dedicate my efforts solely on that plan to complete the sale.

Along with the car will be lots of optional spares, panels, glass, suspension etcetc, everything i have 33 related basicly.

Should be a good bundle to the right buyer?

Oh come on mate !

Before you know it you'll be selling your Sud for the same reasons.
Start working on the flippin car ! The more you add to it, the better chances you gain to sell it anyway.

Not many people want a car thats in bits and pieces

Well I'm sorry mate, but honestly, that 33 has been on your "Wish List" for so long, I would be sad to see someone else taking it over :/

I know you love the car, that's why I'm trying to persuade you not to sell it.

If there's no other way though, keep me in mind for that front bumper :)
