Mito experience

My daughter wants a Mito, the Alfa specialist I use now said steer clear of the twin air due to non car folks not maintaining properly, oil level, servicing etc.

He said go for the 1400cc (96bhp non turbo).

Any experience and thoughts from fellow forum members?

The low power 1.4 for sale are mostly early cars, 2009 to 2012, but I have seen a higher miles 2018 which looks and reads well in the advert, and a slightly pricey 2013 but just 60k miles.

Any advice and past experience appreciated. Thanks

Hi Tim, I run a 1.4 120T and the engine is pretty bombproof bearing in mind that it's used in the 595 and you know how much power they can put out. One important thing to check is that it isn't blowing at the flexi-pipe. Any more details you want just ask.

I think the non turbo 1400 is a good idea.
Low insurance, no problems with Twin/Multi air/turbo .

Seems the electric power steering can be a problem.

Neil at Alfa Specialists in Haslingden says he keeps recon columns in stock for this.

Try Nigel Snape at Master Tech in Stockport. Very knowledgeable, ex Mango head technician, now independent.

Thanks both. It will have to be a low power version for 17 year old insurance. We have a Giulietta 1.4tb which has been great, bought with 20k miles and we’ve done another 50k miles in it with just a few minor niggles like door handle broke but mechanically great so far.

I’ll keep looking, there’s a couple priced reasonably on auto trader.

Hyundai i 10 for a 17 year old!

We’re going to look at the huyandai i10/kia picanto also before committing. She likes Toyota Aygo but the Hyundai is better I think.

Seeing a lot of Aygos' with rotten sills Tim, give the underside of the outer sill a squueze around the grommets...made from tissue paper it seems!
I like the little Hyundai i10, had a few in for MoT's etc and seem a well put together car and fairly well apointed too

I don’t like the aygo, it is like a baked bean tin on wheels……

I think the Panda 1.2 is group 1 insurance.

Good engine, hired one in Italy, it flew up the passes with 3 up and luggage.

Not sure about the rust, and she might not like the styling?
