Thanks for the replies everyone.
Were not out of the woods just yet, and our webspace providers are hard at it too in the background, there are still issues especially for us on the website and maintenance side but it does appear to letting folk in again, all be it not 100% reliably and as it should.
We continue.....

Re: PLEASE REPLY TO POST IF YOU CAN LOG IN!
Hi again
It does seem that the trick to access the main forum functions again is to clear your browser data history and cache, this prevents your browser from attempting to access the webpage by using a previous, and now unsuccessful, shortcut.
clearing your cache seems to work for most folk so far.
We are still mostly locked out of the admin and maintenance pages, so us trying to fix it from within is still proving nigh on impossible, and our graciious hosts are not being very useful currently,
very slow going!

GOOD NEWS!
after weeks of pulling whatever hair I have left on my head (wasn't much, but you get my point) I can confirm the forums are back up and running fully!
It's been a real ballache as our hosts have gone from being incredible to incredibly meh in the last few years.
Hope all you Alfa nerds are happy with everything - and if you guys are feeling generous we could give the forums a bit of an overhaul to freshen it up in here!
Anyway - Shrew - over to you!

Well, I'm back!
Amongst all the drama I managed to lock myself out with too many failed attempts, and being lacking in enough internal memory to recall the correct password....must be my age!
Thanks to the incredible efforts to restore the forum for which I take no credit, there are 2 guys who have literally saved the forum from extinction. A few conversations weeks back came to the conclusion that we may have to fold as a forum, there seemed no way out. It really should not be underestimated how much time and effort this has taken, although the bill has yet to be settled! It's been a big hit but we seem to have survived it, going forward though we need to have some sort of fallback plan in the event something else hits us, which we may not survive.
But for now lets get back to it.
I've loads of missed posts to read through!

Re: PLEASE REPLY TO POST IF YOU CAN LOG IN!
It all seems lightening fast and smooth compared to before the faults and issues, which is nice to see and feel a benefit that is real to all users, but thats nothing compared to the differences in the background.
A huge thank you to Jeff the Guru (BeardedCaravanGames) who not only has the wierdest username for an alfa romeo forum member, mostly terrible taste in cars, but is also a Gent and a Genius!
Thanks Jeff, you're a star, and one day we might get you into an Alfa Romeo!
In the meantime, the rest of you, with the exception of a very small number of members who's genorosity is known only too well to us already, can potentially expect a date to arrive where access to the forum will only continue with a small and very reasonable mandatory subscription.
Jeff has, without disclosing details, looked after us extremely well in the past, and will continue to do so whilst ever we exist i'm sure, but that is down to our personal and historic friendship, not because he loves Alfa Romeo's, so it is neither fair or right that myslef, Kev, and Jeff, continue the financial burden all on our own, although we have always tried to exist without a subsription thus far.
As the forum and its database continues to steadily grow, and of course therefore become more useful to its members and beyond, the potential headache grows along with it, and when things do go wrong, it means a real poo storm, that cannot be sorted out for nothing!

Re: PLEASE REPLY TO POST IF YOU CAN LOG IN!
Thanks Shrew for getting me back on line.
Glad you managed to get me back again. The hassle of simply forgetting your password details and getting locked out of my Microsoft Outlook has been a nightmare, bloody A.I just shuts you down and everything you do online can not be sorted as you can not get to your email account. I jumped through hoops, contacting people who I had emailed to find the exact titles of messages, their email addresses (lets be honest, they are in your contact folder but you do not always remember it word perfect). I submitted it all to Microsoft along with secret passwords (that I did remember)and they still didn't think it was proof enough to allow me to access it.
So now I no longer have my email account details of any contacts i have, so now I need to start again with my new email address.
