Re: Sud restoration.
Thanks Colin i seem to be struggling to find time to get anything done. I’m in the middle of the CouPider project which is giving me some headaches and has to have priority as the season is about to start and along with other projects it’s all getting a bit much . Please do hold the radio for me. And I’ll let you know if I’m ever up your way.

I think they’re Chinese but to be honest I’ve found very little to be concerned about yet. They are alloy core with steel mounting furniture and plastic end tanks. Which is how the S3 rads were constructed originally.

That's a great price for ones with the correct boots on to keep the moisture from the plugs

Re: Sud restoration.
Got bored with lack of progress so started looking at the SC kit . Using a spare 1.5sc lump as a dummy to make sure everything’s there and fits as it should I’ll have to use the heads off this engine if I do it as there the only sc heads I’ve got (I think). This may well end up in the Sud.

Re: Sud restoration.
That is a nice set-up. I've always liked the Sprintex - the first of the proper "modern" superchargers, as opposed to a Roots blower or a GMC 6-71. Compact enough to fit on any small European engine. What are you going to use for fuelling? Most of the time its a darned great SU carb, or could you use a single point EFI and a throttle body instead?
The only thing that would get me more excited (about Alfa engines, that is ) would be a twin-turbo set-up, with one turbo for each cylinder bank. They would have to be microscopic turbos though, maybe I could use small axial turbojets, sort of coals to Newcastle... Hmm...

Re: Sud restoration.
I’ve considered developing a twin Turbo set up for years Lauren but never got round to it . My idea was to use turbos off something like a Diahatsu charade
I reckoned that as they were something like 800cc so two of them on a 1.5 shouldn’t be OTT. Of course these days there’s lots of small capacity turbo engines so finding a suitable unit should be quite easy . Watch this space I may just consider looking at it again .

Re: Sud restoration.
That makes sense - a pair of turbos off a JDM Kei car should be ideal. Don't let me distract you from your supercharger build though

Re: Sud restoration.
But late for that Lauren . But seriously it’s one of those ideas I thought about over 25yrs ago now but never did anything about it. So I’ll Probably carry on with the blower for now as I’ve got it all. However I may just chuck another dummy block and heads together to start the ball rolling. I’ll use a 1.7 8v as the base. I’ve got a pair 8v ie inlet manifolds and the air plenum that goes with them so the injection is taken care of with no fabrication and I’ve got several twin spark throttle bodies so one of those may do the trick couple that with a dizzyless ign and an Omex it’s just a case of fabricating some manifolds to mount the turbos on to and plumbing it all accordingly

That is a rare part Lou. I take it the N/S is ok. Have you needed many replacement panels or was the car pretty sound?

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Resto
Tbh Keith no the bulk of the body is original and straight however both doors had been patched (badly) but I’d already found a rust free replacement NS and as I didn’t want to get in the remaking the Door bottoms. I found this one in Greece
Don’t get me wrong my old doors are far from scrap and would certainly be usable if some one wants to repair them properly. (I may fix them. Up in the future ) I’m trying to do the car to as higher std as possible and if a new panel helps me achieve that then so be it, And it wasn’t stupid money It was just the shipping that made it seem expensive But they are so hard to find now sometimes you just have to pony up and have a stiff drink

How is the body work coming along loo? I've collected all the panels I need now. I have just got to do the welding around the screen and I'm ready for the body shop.
Re: My 84 Sud Ti Resto
Did Peter at Alfasud Spares on Line bring a load of panels over from Greece?

Re: My 84 Sud Ti Resto
Hi Craig
I’ve actually not got that much to do. if I did nowt else and just spent 3-4 days doing the few patches It needs I’d be done I’ve got a couple of small repairs to do in the drivers floor /sill area. And the front jacking point (it’s solid Enough but a bit crusty) Needs a dose of looking at. The biggest bit is the drivers APost that need some work I’ve cut all the rot out and I just have to fabricate a section and weld It in .
My pedal box area is done apart from a small amount of tidying up. There’s not too much around the back of the car. Kevs kindly doing my tailgate In return for a favour. So that’ll be great when it come back and now I’ve got 2 Good doors I’m in a good place with it.
