Availability of mk1 Sud Ti seat fabric

Post by evanbottcher »

Hi folks,

My first post here on your new site. I've been a long time member of various other forums, nice to be here!

My question relates to restoration of a mk1 Sud Ti (not yet underway, but planned). Does anyone have a source of the grey fabric insert material, with the fine horizontal black stitching? I've always loved the way mk1 Sud seats look - and would love to restore it properly.

thanks!
Evan.

Hi Evan

to echo JB, welcome aboard, glad to see you here.

and to repeat him once more, its definitely worth trying upholsterers, its surprising sometimes how much of an old design cloth is still available, and occasionaly from the manufacturers themselves too.

a friend of mine managed to buy the coloured leather panels for an old 2002 (model, not year!) alpina direct from Beemer themselves, and quite reasonably too.

failing that, depending on which bits you need, its worth looking out for good rear seats that get sat in much less (but fade!) and rob the cloth from them to repair the fronts.

Thanks guys, both for the welcome and the advice. I'll talk to my trimmer, and see what he can get - good idea.

Hi mate

just to let you know, i tried my upholstery contact today, but sadly no progress.

It may just be him and and his suppliers, still worth pursuing that route, but on this occasion, no cigar!
